  1. Average bakery nothing special. I have tried numerous pastries from Napoleons, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Lemon Drops, Fruit Tarts etc… Everything has been either average or below average .

The decor needs updating. The Customer Service needs some grooming as well. The bakery offers a Large seating area outside with shade, a definite plus.

  2. Mini cannoli crust was very bland and softened from sitting out cream-filled. The filling was thick, creamy and smooth but nothing special taste wise. The mini eclair pastry was also very bland, though I feel like I shouldn't have had high expectations ordering French pastry from an Italian bakery. I didn't even finish the mini cheesecake I bought, it was so dry and I could barely taste the blueberry in it.

The big positive is that it's very affordable, downright cheap. All of the above was roughly $5. The cheesecake slice my friend bought was also pretty good, way better than anything I got myself. I'm just not sure why all the rave reviews. There are so many great Italian bakeries and even delis that have better Italian desserts than this if you go out to Corona, Middle Village/Glendale/Ridgewood areas, or the city for that matter. Maybe I came on an off day?

  3. What a unique bakery!  While walking back to the train after dinner we see this bakery still open.  There were no less than 10 men sitting out front enjoying themselves.

We decide to stop in for a quick latte to take with us while we were walking.  The bakery was full of awesome looking baked goodies and breads.

While the latte's were less than stellar the almond biscotti that we also took with us was amazing! Tasted just like we had in Florence years ago.  Wasn't the cheapest little bakery but then again you get what you pay for.  We had 2 large lattes at $4 a piece and ordered 12 of the small almond biscotti.  Total price was $17.

The blonde woman who assisted us couldn't have been any nicer.  She had a smile on her face from start to finish.  I was please to leave a tip in the jar as she truly deserved it.

  4. An old fashioned remnant of Italian Astoria, I only tried cannolis. I would say they are good but not great. The ricotta filling is on the sweeter side of things, additionally the texture is a bit heavy. However, the shell is crunchy enough considering that these are prefilled.

I only came here because I wanted something sweet after the Sorriso pork store across the street — which, incidentally, is top-notch.

  5. This is an awesome bakery. The closest one to my house and I'm lucky to say they offer some great sweets, and amazing breads. I always buy my bread here and if I'm heading to a party I buy my desserts from here as well. There's a homely feeling to the place. The ladies that work here are always pleasant. The place is nice and clean. Everyone looks happy to be here. There's also seats outside to enjoy your coffee/sweets. Many customers do take advantage of the seating in the summer!

  6. If you're gonna break the diet, for the love of god do it here. Round Bread is called pane di casa, it's immediately to the right and up on the bread shelves as you walk in. Sit down with a whole wheat croissant (better than you think) and cappuccino  and read a book while you're at it. Or fatten up on dunkers (under the cash register) or chocolate covered cannoli. They also toast rolls with butter and jam. Another favorite. The rolls are on the middle shelf up and to the left of the bread slicer. If you order bread, have them slice it there instead of doing it at home. Makes better pieces that way. Come back the next day and get what you wish you got the first day but didn't because you were trying not to be a fat pig by eating everything in delicious sight.

  7. After my husband got  me some  deep strawberries for Mother's Day, I wanted to come to the shop personally because the strawberries where pretty good and fresh . Well… what a disappointment, The staff wasn't welcoming and when asking the girl that was serving us her suggestion she was in a rush for me to pick and go, at the end I got a Napoleon and cookies for my daughter . The cookies were ok and the Napoleon stayed in my fridge for like a week before throwing it out.  I even forgot I got it, had such a bad taste  after that awful customer service, Giving it two stars because my Mother's Day strawberries were delicious.

  8. I won't have a napoleon unless it's from this place;  they are the most delicious I've ever had.
