Let me start by prefacing that I am extremely picky about my Italian food, and don't eat it out very often. I had a friend in town, who was staying a few blocks from here. We decided to walk in the rain to find a decent restaurant to have dinner. We stumbled upon Piccolo.
It was the perfect ambiance to have dinner with an old friend, or even a first date. We were able to have a conversation and hear each other perfectly. It was so warm and cozy inside, we didn't want to leave. I think our meal lasted about 45 minutes, but we stayed another hour talking and drinking thereafter.
The service was great. I constantly had a refil on water and wine. I wasn't impressed with their menu, but I wasn't disappointed either. It was safe. There was something for everyone on there. The ceasar salad was delicious, and perfectly sized for sharing. The mussels in white wine sauce as an appetizer were large enough to be an entre, and their calamari was delicious!
I might have to venture out again for their brunch.
