Il Sole

“This is the only place I order penne ala vodka as I do not like to spend money on Italian food since I can make it myself.”

“They make excellent sangria (try the passion fruit version – it's great on a hot day!).”

“Pros: The fried calamari and brushetta were delicious and fresh.”

  1. My cousin suggested for us to come here for Sunday brunch because their food and drinks were good. Our brunch included an appetizer, entree and I believe the drinks were unlimited for 1.5 hours. First off their brunch is all off, hardly any egg options. It's mostly pasta and burgers; I got the burger which was dry and not tasty at all. The drinks were all watered down and I decided to stop drinking them since I was getting full of water with them.  They're probably popular for dinner because I will never return here from brunch. It should've been a sign when there was only 2 other tables with people in there.

What they have going for them is the décor, very classy and modern at the same time with mostly all white color theme which makes them stand out in the Dyckman Street area, small but cute and welcoming.

  2. I really enjoy this restaurant, but I live in the neighborhood so it's a short walk for me. I'm not sure I would travel to Inwood specifically to eat here, but the neighborhood has plenty to offer and if you're around, this is where you should go.

I have to agree with the others who have said the portions are massive – I have actually turned 1 serving into 3 meals. I've tried a few different pasta and chicken dishes and have enjoyed them all, although they can be a bit salty. I'm a big fan of salt, so that's a plus for me.

I agree that mixed drinks and sangria may not be the best way to go, bit I've had a an excellent bottle of wine and would recommend going that route if you'd like a drink with the meal.

The brunch portions weren't as large, but it's a decent meal. I'd say the menu is pretty typical – eggs, fench toast, etc.

Service isn't really a make it or break it deal for me, I care much more about how the food tasts. I've never had any complaints here though.

  3. could be better, but it has no space to grow….

The service is great and drink prices decent, music is good and bartender knows her stuff, but the place is a whole in the wall. So tight and the tables are next to the bathroom door…Nasty
Outdoor seating is decent and goes with the rest of the bars around the area.

PS: i didnt get to try their food, just the drinks.

  4. I forgot that one of my first visits to this place was a nightmare because our waitress decided to take a 20 minute break AFTER we asked for the check and before she brought it to us!

But I continued to go and order delivery, and my previous review stands, except that delivery has become a drag. My last order was simple, just two entrees and garlic bread. I'd had a long conversation with the guy taking the order asking him what he recommended. I placed the order, he repeated it, and then he left one entree out completely! When I got my delivery sans 2 entrees I called and he couldn't even remember our long conversation. It had only been like 30 minutes! He apparently one put 1 entree on the order. It wasn't worth waiting for them to fix the mistake.

*sigh* another one bites the dust.
