Lazy. I'm so lazy I can't even boil a pot of water to make pasta. Yelp. I must find pasta. Found it. Menu listed, perfect. Damnit, no chicken piccata, oh well. Pasta with garlic mushroom blah blah blah. Call, order. Drive. Arrive. Get ogled by old Italian men smoking cigars on the patio, whatayagunnadoaboutit. Drive home, shit nothin to drink, turn around, 7-11, bottle of diet coke. I'm on a diet, shut up. Ok, drive home. Don't even bother with plates. Stuff pasta in face. DEVOUR. Ignore giant, massive, huge fucking pieces of garlic that will ruin me for days.
Delicious. I'll return. And try to ignore the huge, massive, big god damn pieces of garlic that they really should cut smaller or something.
Our current dilemma; It's Sunday afternoon and nobody in my home is exactly in the mood to cook in this 90 degree heat. So, what to order…we decided on Italian. But now, where from???
I've passed Amarone hundreds of times in the last decade since moving to Teaneck, and today was our first visit. We definitely waited too long to eat from here.
The food was on point and hit the spot. We ordered the Al Milanese (Grilled Chicken Breast sandwich), Calamari Fritti, and Penne Alla Vodka.
FYI – the lunch menu you see online is not honored on weekends, but because this was our first time, they did for us; in my book that's called courteous and a good business decision, and for that…aside from the good tasting good, I will be a return customer.
My next visit will be in-house, hopefully very soon. Upon my hubby's entrance when picking up our take-out, their was a patron who's dish caught his senses and now he is salivating to taste the beef vegetable soup that pleased two of is 5 senses.
Yelp, how I love thee! Our app led us to this local Italian restaurant in nearby Teaneck on Friday night. Decor is typical of most North Jersey Italian eateries. White tablecloths, semi-comfortable chairs, dark carpet (void of crumbs), and small flower arrangements on the table. Intimate, cozy, and no harsh lighting. Amarone has a full bar, which is nice considering the Irishman and I do not enjoy the same cocktails during dinner (i.e. – he is not a fan of wine but I love his sexy ass anyway).
App – mussels in white wine broth. They actually split the order between us and we thought that was a great gesture. I always wind up hijacking far more mussels than him so I could tell that he was secretly happy to have his own serving this time around (his smirky half-smile told me so). The mussels were flavorful, plump, and generous in size. The warm bread that arrived at our table upon being seated (Italian bread and caramelized onion focaccia) accompanied the broth beautifully.
Entrees – whole Bronzino for him and the orecchiette pasta special for me (braised short ribs/mushrooms/escarole/asparagus/greek olives). The Bronzino was cooked perfectly and was lightly seasoned (S&P only). Both dishes were fantastic. I was thrilled to have leftovers!
Dessert – we normally skip the sweets but everything thus far was amazing so we went for it. Homemade raspberry sorbet for him and homemade limoncello gelato for me. Holy yumtastic. Homemade almond biscotti were delivered to our table (on the house) as well. I cannot stress enough how fresh our desserts were.
Pacing of our meal was perfect. Service was attentive and outstanding. They missed no detail in taking care of us. We were made to feel very welcome and appreciated for our patronage.
Total was $100. Excellent dining experience on a brick-cold night!
