La Cambusa
“As a far as appetizers, you just try the Burrata, mussels, and the garlic shrimp!”
“I have eaten the lobster ravioli here like 8 times, the pork chop Milanese is as good as moms, and I always finish with a Cannoli.”

Amazing authentic Mediterranean/Italian food in Northern NJ. Excellent service and very accommodating. Try the poached salmon and the ever popular Sausage and Brocolirabe. Yums!
Dined here only once and had a great experience. Food and service were both very good and the prices were reasonable.
I really love how they have fun specials for each night. Yesterday, Wednesday, was three pasta dishes for $19 so if you can't pick just one you can have three! Pretty cool.
My dinner was a special written on their chalk board. Forgot what it was called but it was pasta with monkfish, shrimp and clams. It was fantastic! I would love to come back here again soon.
Ordered lunch for our office from La Cambusa today and we are all currently stuffed and happy. It was delicious!
Tilapia Livornese:
Tilapia, light tomato sauce, olives, capers, onions (comes with pasta but I asked for veggies). Great tasting and you can tell it's fresh fish and not frozen. Some places I have ordered this dish and the fish was clearly frozen. The veggies were steamed to perfection! My only comment is I wish there would have been more sauce. Next time we will ask for extra sauce.
We ordered over the phone, it was ready exactly when they said it would be ready. There were not many people dining in for lunch so it was quiet. Very clean and nice restaurant. Will definitely go back!
This place is where it's at! And it's right here, right under our noses in Garfield! The service was great, the bar looks pretty large, and there is outdoor seating for those nice clear nights! I had the seafood risotto and that was tasty. My lady had something along the lines of pasta with half a lobster. That lobster was huge and I thought the price was fair for such a large helping of food. My lady's best friend had an Australian white fish – she loved it, but the serving was pretty large. I am definitely going back, as my lady and her friend tried the specials and there is more to try here.
I almost forgot to write this review which is a complete sham on me because this place deserves multiple good reviews. I decided to check La Cambusa out after hearing that I must go by my cousin and then again by a patient of mine. I went over on a Tuesday night with the cousin whom recommended the place. Upon walking in we were greeted by the owner and then given a table of our choice. The waitress was extremely nice and bubbly and gave recommendations of her favorites from the cocktails to the specials. Our meal was as followed:
1) Pumpkin Martini made with purred pumpkin: two thumbs up
2) Apps: Homemade pumpkin ravioli: two thumbs up , Stuffed Calamari: two thumbs up (just like grandma use to make)
3) Entrees: Special- Grouper over pumpkin risotto : two thumbs up (if you can't tell me like pumpkin!) ; Pollo Farcito -stuffed chicken rollatini, pink brandy cream sauce w/ homemade pasta- two thumbs up
After all that deliciousness we could barely fit desert put couldn't resist ordering their homemade tiramisu. Unfortunately it wasn't settled enough to be cut. =( So, the owner brought over a slice of their homemade Napoleon on the house! Delish!
Overall, if you don't go here to eat, it's your loss and my gain (more food for me)!
After my recent string of mediocre-to-terrible experiences in restaurants, this place gave me hope that there are people in the industry who truly love and appreciate food. Everything about the restaurant (the food, ambiance, staff) was so well done that I could help but think that everyone associated with the place had a true love and appreciation for food. Eating here brought me comfort and happiness that I haven't had in a long time when eating in a restaurant. All the dishes I ate were made and seasoned perfectly. Each bite made me wish I could never get full and my plate would never be empty. I loved it.
I came here for lunch and the first dish I had was the calamari. It was seasoned beautifully with just the perfect amount of crunch. Usually, I don't like marinara sauce. I don't like to eat it because, it usually doesn't agree with my palate. I'll often find it sour, bland, bitter or all three. This sauce, however, was amazing. It had the right balance of salty and sweet, while carrying a great spicy kick that wasn't overpowering. It complemented the squid perfectly. I wanted to eat the whole order.
Next, I had the Penne del Golfo (Penne with shrimp and vodka sauce). It was outstanding. Probably, the best penne with vodka sauce I've ever had. The sauce was so creamy, silky smooth and bursting with flavor that with each bite I kept thinking, "How do they do this?!" and "I wonder if they'd give me the recipe…" I wanted to bottle it up and take it home to share with everyone. (Instead, I'll probably just tell everyone to eat there.) The pasta was delicious as well and perfectly al dente. The shrimp was also cooked to perfection. I love and appreciate perfectly cooked shrimp, because often, restaurants (and people) overcook shrimp and make it rubbery and unappetizing.
Lastly, I ate the tiramisu with a cup of coffee. The tiramisu was great. It's housemade and not too sweet. They top it off with a coffee liqueur and everything marries together to create one of the best pieces of tiramisu you will ever taste. The coffee was perfect too!
All-in-all, this place was amazing (and perfect, I said "perfect" a lot). The ambiance is clean, trendy and tastefully done. The prices are excellent for the food and portions you get. The service is great, quick and friendly. I haven't stopped talking about this place since I left and hopefully I can eat there soon. Definitely try it!
This place was suprisingly pleasant for food.
Food: 5 Stars, top notch quality and taste. My family hails from the motherland (Italy) and usually we dont go to Italian restaurants. but this place was good.
Atmosphere: 5 Stars. Nice and clean. Also they double their seating with outdoor seating which is great for the spring summer and fall.
Service: 4 Stars: Food took a bit long to come out but thats okay. What wasnt okay was our waiter was extremely off putting and came off as pompous and rude, but the owner came out and spoke with us a few times throughout the night which made it better.
Would absolutely go back
I came here during it's soft opening on a Friday night. I had the vodka sauce with penne and 2 glasses of wine. Every bite was to die for. I substituted the shrimp for chicken and everything was presented beautifully. Can't want to go back!
The owner came over and introduced himself and was going out of his way to meet everyone that came in. Great service!
