I did a blind try here and failed to consult the all-knowing Yelp conglomerate before buying into the social media food hype. Whoops, boy did I pay for it, and by pay for it, I mean a whopping $8 down the drain. Though I initially already knew what the raindrop cakes were, I feel that theirs weren't necessarily made that well. The raindrop part itself seemed lacking in the other ingredients besides water and gelatin. It was very very plain, practically water. The toppings were fine and were pretty hard to screw up. It's a cool way to try this dessert without having to go through the effort of making it yourself. But it's all eye candy and nothing more.
Oh, and one final note, if you're looking to get this for a picture, they all aren't as perfect as some of the pictures make them out to be, mines had a decent amount imperfections with the roundness, etc.
I'm looking at the reviews now and laughing about how true they all are. I never wanted to try this because it didn't seem like something I'd like. I was right. My friend bought one for $8 and I tried a bit of it. Yes, it's jello. That tastes like lightly sweetened water. If you eat it with the brown sugar, it tastes like brown sugar jello. If you eat it with that brown powder, (roasted soy flour?) then it tastes like saw dust. No to saw dust flavored desserts. No to the hype this caused. No to $8 for jello. Just no.
It wasn't worth the hype for me. Yes it was refreshing tasting but it wasn't super cold so it could have been more refreshing. I got it with the black sugar cane which helped to create some flavor since raindrop cake is suppose to be pretty much a flavorless gelatin. Save your $8 for something else.

what a disappointment..8 bucks for water jello is what i paid for.
Why the hype? It's incredulous that this $8, tasteless garbage could warrant such a craze. Please avoid. You can take pictures without buying…
