I'm a neighbor of this place, and absolutely love the wine selection and the good prices. The people that work there couldn't be nicer, and it is just a great place. They'll deliver in a few minutes, too. Their walk-in-cooler could be a touch cooler, but all else is great. Give this place a try. Simple but they have done a great job and they'll always have my business.
The Wine Gallery should be used for emergency alcohol purchases while in the area only. Prices are a tad bit high and the selection is very limited. Nevertheless, The Wine Gallery was able to help me get the job done.
If you have the time and can make the short commute, Warehouse Wine & Spirits is just below E 8th St on Broadway beside the NYU (N, R) train station. They have rock bottom prices and a very wide selection.
Then for an even wider selection of wine, if time and distance isn't a problem, check out Best Buy Liquors out on Coney Island. Their gigantic selection is even vaster than the previously mentioned, but yet still the same low prices.

Two recent respective visits with two different guys had me in better spirits. It appears this wine gallery is staffed mostly by men who transfers quality service to male customers–not women. These two recent respective visits were to purchase a bottle of wine and the latter mini bottles of spirits consumed in the streets with much discretion and laughter enjoyment.
I stumbled upon this little wine shop last Saturday, under heavy snow, and full of Christmas shopping packages. I needed to get a dry red vermouth for a holiday party, and I found a Martini Red bottle for about $10.
I was in too much of a rush to notice much, but they seem to have quite a lot of bottles on sale.
The only down point is that this shop is really crammed with bottles, and it is small: moving around with all the packages was kinda awkward…
