  1. I love this place although the prices are so expensive (even for the area) and I keep it for special occasions (6$ for an eclair! come on!). Good pastries and viennoiseries (croissants, pains au chocolat, etc), good coffee drinks. Can get crowded in the morning and the barista always seems slow but worth it for a breakfast treat.

  2. It's easy to walk by Pomme Palais because it's a small pastries and french viennoiseries (croissants, pains, au chocolat, etc) café on the side street of the Palace Hotel and not easy to see what is inside by looking at the window.

I decided to visit after looking them up on Yelp and seeing a great looking Red Velvet Cheese cake at the first photo on the Yelp site.

After going inside the place looks good and has a nice fresh atmosphere and a real friendly staff.  They don't have a lot of items to pick from but what they do have all looks delicious.

I got the Red Velvet Cheese cake to share it with coworkers since I only wanted to taste it,

    OMG!!!

It was so good I wish I kelp it all to myself instead,  now I have to go back to get another.

  3. Midtown east is a luxury neighborhood
Watch all those bankers, dressing like kings but acting like beasts.

Location: "Pomme Palais evokes a jewel-box of a French market unleashed in a cheery and imaginative setting. Michel's next generation of pastry shop is filled with an array of sweet and savory treats, specialty snacks, beverages, and gift items. Located at 51st and Madison Avenue, Pomme Palais serves breakfast, lunch, and dessert options in a casual sit-down setting" quote from Pomme Palais official website

Bakery: I have a hard time choosing which one I would like to eat. Why one? Oh, considering someone gained 9 pounds over the break, she does want to lose some water weights. So sweets should be minimized. So I asked the girl what she likes the most. She recommended their all-time-favorite chocolate eclair, chocolate napoleon with hazelnut crust, and raspberry tart. I decide to give a try on this chocolate napoleon. It was delicious.  Although it was hard to cut, (the crust is really resilient) I however managed to use all my strength without embarrassing myself in front of my future coworkers. The first bite immersed me within the chocolate ocean (cocoa ocean?) It was well made. Next, the hazelnut crust is crispy and balanced well with the extra chocolate  WOW, so delicious. It was exactly like something I had back in Paris.

Price: everything is above 7 dollars. Although the piece is bit small, all pastries are classic and delicious. Maybe you should just ignore the price and enjoy this luxury flavor.

I will be back soon, trying something new!

    Overall: 4 stars

  4. Cute dessert + coffee inside the Lotte Palace. Good place to stop by for some sugar therapy. Desserts are $7-$9 range and coffee is $3-$5 range. they have couple tables to sit down and there is also a hotel lounge across this place. This place close early at 5 pm.

  5. One of the best eclair I have ever had! It's so cute – with sugar flower decoration. My previous experience with eclair at other places were mostly disappointing as I felt like chewing wax when chewing the chocolate top. But this soft and creamy red velvet eclair just melt in my mouth and melt my heart. It's sooooo good – a little sour fruity note balances the sweetness, and the bread is buttery and soft.

One of the highlight is that they varies the eclair decorations by seasons. It's fun to have a seasonal theme matched eclair! The product quality is also high standard, everything from looking, smell, taste, to packaging is perfect.

Unfortunately, they open with very limited hours (close at 5pm), which made it hard for me to pay more frequent visit. I'm glad and thankful to my friend living in midtown initiated a dessert exchange program with me so that I can try out this Pomme Palais's eclairs while she can try bakeries from downtown area. I hope I can pay a visit to the store soon!

  6. The customer service in the shop is amazing! The staff is super friendly and accommodating.

The coffee is very good and there is a decent variety of milks and toppings (nutmeg, chocolate, vanilla powder). They also have a huge selection of cakes and cookies. The macarons looked really good but we didn't indulge (this time).

The croissant and gingerbread cookies are very good. The shop is very clean and constantly being restocked.

    I would definitely recommend.

  7. Located inside the Lotte Palace Hotel. Conveniently opens at 6:30 A.M. Great selection of baked goods and they serve illy coffee! I had the bacon, egg and cheese on brioche bread. The peppered bacon made this sandwich, only wish they used a real fried egg, instead of the fluffy egg mix.

  8. It's a cute upscale bakery/cafe – nice place to meet someone for coffee with some good options for sweets. I didn't get any dessert so I can't speak to that, but a lot of tourists seemed to be into that. I just got a simple green tea and was pleasantly surprised when they gave me a small jar for honey when I asked for some. There's extra seating area next to the shop, which I didn't venture to, but it's comforting to know that you can find some more space if you want to sit down and relax for a bit. I wouldn't go out of my way to return, but there wasn't anything negative about the experience.
