I'm impressed so far! Really good bagels (not the best ever, but quite good), prepared in the gigantic Jersey tradition. If you get nova on a bagel, expect thick-sliced, super-fresh nova, and they're not stingy! BECH was decent.
Prices seem a bit higher than other places. Overall, service was well above-average except the moody, slow-moving older gentleman behind the counter (owner?), who seemed pissed to be there.
I can anticipate many more trips here in the future.
If you are remotely close to Tenafly and looking for a bagel shop , you have to come here! When it comes to Celebrity Bagels it's all about quality! I never had a bad bagel from this place, they're always spot on and super fresh!
All of their spreads are awesome, but their lox spread is the best lox spread I ever had! The entire spread is filled with nice healthy chunks of lox! In fact, I was so impressed by their lox spread that I had to compliment the owner and he said that he believes all lox spreads should be made with pieces of lox in them, instead of putting juice from the lox to flavor the cream cheese, like so many other places do.
Since I'm on the subject of lox, if you get lox and cream cheese or just lox on a bagel they are not cheap at all; they pile on the lox at least an inch high!
Since, the name of this place is called celebrity bagel, all of their sandwiches are named after celebrities. I'm not one who likes ordering dishes named after people just because I feel cheesy ordering them, but the sandwiches are so good I dont mind.
Definitely, definitely, definitely check this place out, but I do have to warn you, you won't look at any other bagel place the same.
Big fluffy bagels, nothing special here. Great if you're in the area, not worth a drive.
Well this is my go to place for bagels, when I am in the area. The Bagels are ginormous and they have different spreads. As a matter of fact, I will be passing through on my way back to Baltimore. If you are ever in the Tenafly, Alpine, Englewood area be sure to try it out.
As many of the other reviewers said the bagels and breakfast sandwiches from Celebrity bagel are pretty tasty and the prices are reasonable. I didn't rate them any higher because though my bagel w/ lox and spread was tasty the bagel had more of a doughy roll consistency than the hard and firm inside that you expect from a bagel (okay, a New York bagel so maybe that's why I wasn't a fan – obviously we're not in NY but that was where I had my bar set).
I mean they're not bad for breakfast but you should know what you're getting.
I've never had lunch here, so this review is purely for their bagels. My boyfriend is from this town and he swears by this place. I haven't been a big fan of bagels in the past, but Celebrity Bagels definitely converted me! They have great, fresh bagels (soft in the inside and just the right amount of crisp on the outside)! I really enjoy the Nova Lox bagel and their breakfast sandwiches are pretty good, as well. Whenever we visit, we always bring a few extra bagels to bring back to Philly with us.
The actual venue is really small for the amount of people who are go on Saturday and Sunday mornings (prime time and the only time I've been). There are about 6 tables that seat about 4 people each. It's difficult to find a place to sit on weekend mornings, so we never really get the chance to eat in the establishment. If we do, it's one of those "hunt" situations where someone has to stake out and stalk a table until it's free and then throw their coats down to reserve it. Also, don't be surprised if you are in line for 30-40 minutes here!
The service could be a bit better too–I definitely would give them 2.5-3.0 stars for service. But I get why they are lacking in service. Since they get so busy, they are really trying to get people their orders quickly to make more room in the building. SO, they end up being short with customers and essentially yelling at one another as they hustle and bustle behind the counters. They definitely don't spend too much time with cordial greetings or "thank yous," but I understand their need to rush. Also, they have a really old register, which some workers have had difficulty with making our waits longer. I feel like this place is in desperate need of remodeling, which would definitely help with efficiency and ability to accommodate all the people that eat there.
