With so few of the Brooklyn Italian bakeries from my childhood still around this one is a treasure to me.
I stop here occasionally for their butter cookies and from time to time I have tried their other products. Everything is delicious!
I once sent my nephew to pick up a order of cookies and of course he went to the wrong store. I noticed immediately because the taste of their products are always so fresh and delicious. The staff is always so friendly and often I'm allowed to sample new items.
The only down side is the parking in the area – hard to find.
Best bakery in Brooklyn. In fact, the best Bakery I've ever had, anywhere.
Their rainbow cookies are insane- cannot get them like this anywhere.
Their butter cookies are awesome, as well as their black and white cookies, Chinese cookies, cream puffs, mini pizzas, Italian bread and strawberry shortcake.
Staff is awesome too.
One tip- cash only.
Great place for baked goods. Used to come here as a kid during Halloween for free candy and sometimes buy a quarter pound of sprinkle cookies. I really like the raspberry cake they sell by the pound and the carcagnoli is awesome. Boyfriend likes to get egg sandwiches whenever he's in brooklyn and we usually come here for it.
I love this Italian bakery in the heart of a mini Chinatown. The place itself is very clean and the service is very fast.
The prices are pretty good as well but that's not why I love this place.
I love it because of all the selection they have to offer! Their French and Italian bread is baked fresh and they have mini whole wheat Italian bread! It's great!
They also have cream puffs stacked together and chocolate covered cream puffs. There's also a lot of cakes and just a whole ton of selection- I wish I could eat it all!!! Everything is baked fresh, which I absolutely love.
They also have like savory dishes like pasta and salmon- not sure how long they've been refrigerated but looks good!
their cheesecake Is so fresh and tasty, I love the ones they have with blueberries on top, you can get a medium one for 23 bucks, the place is a bit pricy but so worth it
the rainbow cookie is so good , and I saw cute Halloween themed creations like dipped candy apple in chocolate with Halloween colors.
this place is my favorite bakery thus far, the cannolis are really good too!
my aunt brought their cheesecake to a family gathering and I can't stop eating it. another one of those few remnants of the old, Italian Sheepshead. I'm a huge fan.
Vito's is in one of the 'no bullshit' sections of Brooklyn. I can't say I have a lot of experience in or around Sheepshead Bay, but I was recently there running an errand and happened upon this place. I liked it and felt comfortable there immediately. They have cases upon cases with multiple shelves containing all sorts of baked goods, Italian cookies, pastries, breads, rolls, what have you. They also have a deli counter in the back and make some mean looking sandwiches, though I didn't partake. I grabbed some cannoli and a loaf of meat & cheese bread (similar to lard bread from Mazzola's, if you're familiar) and both were pretty great.
The best part of my visit was the exchange I witnessed between the proprietor and a neighborhood regular. It went something like this:
Proprietor (her): Oh, man. Not you again. I will freakin kill you.
Patron (him): Good morning! Why the hell is it so crowded in here?
Her: Shut up. I don't wanna hear another word from you. (Laughs with me and another customer who was already in the shop)
Him: (After a bit of silence) You gonna do anything about this line?!
Her: Kiss my ass!
Good times.
sadly disappointed in their red velvet (that probably was colored yellow cake), tri-colored cake and tiramisu.
