“The fact that I can get it toasted with a side of veggie cream cheese makes this place a 4-star jam!”

“The quality of the cold cuts is great (boars head) I have also tried their cheeseburger, paninis, and egg platters.”

  1. I work in NYC and these bagels are better!  Sad but true, other than Ess-a-Bagel on 3rd Ave (or downtown on 1st Ave), it's very hard to find an authentic bagel in the city.  Pam and the crew do it right here – chewy, a bit of sweetness in the dough, some crunch on the bottom.  Oy!  That, my friends, is a bagel!  Not the crapola at Panera, not the frauds on the coffee carts scattered across NYC.  My theory on the whole fake bagel thing is when the "I'll have it toasted" phenomena became popular, vendors said, hey, it's hard to tell crap from the real thing once you toast  it so let's go cheapy-cheapy and make fake, bread like bagels!  How sad!  The coffee carts can't toast so you taste the crapiness right away.   Anyway, this place loses a star because the help can be a little dopey sometimes.  Other than that, keep that REAL bagel recipe in fine form, please!  Not many places left that can produce a real bagel!!

  2. Adequate bagel at best today… I tried an everything bagel and it was just about flavorless (really, with the onion, and the garlic, still, no flavor). It was just fair texturally too. Nothing to write home about. Pretty "meh" sandwiches too.

I walked in and was ignored for about 4 minutes (I kept track) even though there were at least 5 employees behind the counter, and only one other customer who was already being served.

Service was quite unfriendly too. Although I am an extremely polite and patient customer, I expect to be treated with at least a modest amount of professionalism. A woman, who I believe was the manager, was crabbing about, sniping at the staff, and seemed to be pissed at the world. Then the girl who finally, almost begrudgingly helped me was barely grunting her words. No "thank you," just shove my change at me and then turn your back.

    I won't be going back.

UPDATE: got a rude and uncalled for message from the owner. Apparently, he/she doesn't like criticism and berated me for writing a less-than stellar review. The message also chastised Yelpers for writing reviews at all. This not only solidified my choice not to return to the place, but also made me question how he/she could be in business.

  3. Always very good service here…the bagels could be a little softer though. The tayor ham egg and cheese bagels sandwich is on point and the breakfast platters are big and tasty… I also like how you can sit and eat in the restaurant.  I have had sandwiches here as well and they are good too. They use boar head which is good…..
