I like the bagels fine and most of the people are nice but I feel like they're a little stingy. They charge fifty cents for two thin slices of tomato and have an annoyingly high minimum required to charge.
I had been meaning to try this place for a long time. Good selection of bagels made on site. In addition to my plain bagel with cream cheese, I ordered a chocolate muffin, which ended up being a little dry, but I'm not about to ding a bagel place for serving me a dry muffin.
Overall, a bagel with cream cheese, a egg, ham and cheese bagel, the muffin, 2 OJs and a water came to just under $15. Not bad. They say there's a $15 minimum for credit cards but we found out that's not true.
My only gripe with this place is the way it's set up. After everyone orders, there's no place else to go but to together in a tight corner between the cash register, the bathroom, and the fridge. You almost have to dance around with one another until your order is called and it's time to pay.
I love carrots but I love bagels more and when I'm not missing my friends in Montclair, I'm missing the everything bagel from Sunrise. It's the best bagel I've ever had in my life and I'm sorry to say, Philadelphia may never compare and neither will my friends.
The bagels are good, but not on the level of Hot Bagels Abroad over in Bloomfield. The prepared foods, salads, etc are pretty good as well.
Service is friendly, but a bit disorganized and too slow for a bagel shop.
They need to do a better job of cleaning up the tables during heavy dining hours. It just kind of feels dirty at times.
Their coffee is just so-so. It's as if they'd prefer you to head over to Starbucks, or better yet recently opened Java Love.
You could do better. You could do worse. It's a decent option if you live locally and want someplace to walk, or if you're looking for a change of pace to realize just how much better you prefer your current place. By no means is it destination dining.
