I used to call this the "secret Starbucks" before their renovation that made it a Starbucks Reserve store. Their doors (one entrance on 7th ave, but I usually use the 34th St. entrance) weren't as clearly marked as the one roughly across the street. It's much more spacious now and there's a large increase in unique seating. Not many tables, but there are plenty of long benches. Staff is competent and speedy. I prefer it when they ask for your name so that people are less likely to take your drink, but I think they only do this during particularly busy times. Now that seating is fairly ample and the heat is on, there are lots of tourists coming in here to stay cool.
Usually I am pretty good with timing but this particular Starbucks is always a mad house. The lines to order and retrieve an order is always long and the pickup area is usually highly disorganized. The barista and staff are nice but I am not super fond of this are as there is always a homeless person or two who just hangs out in the back near the bathroom. Also, there is a bathroom code for the bathroom but make sure to actually lock the door when you go in. While waiting in line, I have seen my fair share of nudity..
Stopped here with my fiance to get out of the cold & grab a little snack. For such a central location, there was absolutely no line and many seats available — including a couple of barstools right by the window! The dreaded tourist ratio was definitely in our favor, as the place was pretty quiet & no one was asking for directions. The inside is airy with super high ceilings & a very pretty bookshelf filled with their usual mugs & things.
I got my regular (complicated) latte & it tasted weaker than usual — maybe they forgot the extra shot? Whatever it was, I didn't like it as much. But my fiance's drink was great, so ..?
I'd probably give them another chance to get my drink right. It is kinda complicated, after all. But if you're looking for a less-crowded Starbucks for a break from the busy crowds, this is a good option.
This is the closest Starbucks location to my work, so I frequent quite often. Unfortunately, it is not the best in terms of service and size. It is almost always a mad house in there, with customers scattered all over the cramped space, either in line, seated or just hanging around, with limited seating and standing room. As for the service – it is quite slow and at times, rude. I've waited 15+ minutes for a drink. While standing there waiting, I've witnessed the staff giving tudes to customers, multiple times.
Thank goodness I can order in advance with my Starbucks app now, so I can avoid the long wait and watching the staff showcase their rude tudes. So today, I ordered my iced cappuccino through the app, went in and picked it up within minutes. I thought "Yay! Falalala, let me go get a straw so I can enjoy this baby …" What d'ya know? They ran out of straws. I went to the barista and asked if I can get a straw because none were to be found by the prepping station. He simply stares at me and goes "sorry we don't have any straws." I went "are you serious? How am I suppose to drink this?" He continued to stare at me. No words. I let you win the staring contest.
This location has to improve and it needs some quality assurance. I am not drinking my iced capp with a tiny coffee stirrer again!
Although I don't have high expectations for Starbucks NY locations, this one was a disappointment. First off, the store was very dirty, with trash on the floor and an overflowing trash can. Now, I get that you don't expect a sparkling clean store with the foot traffic, but it was really noticeable at this store. Second, all, and I mean all the outlets, on the bench with tables weren't working. In fact, not even one working outlet I could find in this store. To anyone who is a busy professional and stops in for a quick coffee break and to recharge their phone, this is a disappointment. Finally, the tables were all wobbly, and hard to balance anything more than a coffee on them.
Overall, best to get in and out quick. Unfortunate that Starbucks has gone to such low standards. I remember the days when Starbucks were always clean and new, with friendly, caring employees. Those days are long over.
A small Starbucks with a few tables available to sit. It's a good location if you just want to grab a quick drink and head out, but I imagine it gets pretty busy here during the week.
My relationship with Starbucks is a very long one to say the least. I have been to different locations all around the Tri-State area and this one is my favorite for a few reasons. It's far from a madhouse like the other ones I've attended. It's hidden in a nook between fashion avenue and 8th avenue. I'm sure plenty of people pass by because they were don't even realize that it's there. The service is "FAST"! Super Fast! They called my name with my usual Green Tea Frappuccino ready for me. Lastly they're are very friendly. What more can a city girl ask for while in a rush to make a train back to NJ?!

Bring a sweater, it's fall (late Sept) and they have the air cond. blasting like its a mid-August 90-degree heatwave
