Service needs to improve. The waiters didn't pay attention to my parties order when taking it. I was with a party of 9 and we each ordered our own thing. My friend ordered a waffle and the waitress said it'll take 5-10 minutes to make. My mom ordered a mango platter and I had ordered one for myself. I didn't think the waitress paid attention to my order so I asked her to repeat back my order and make sure that two mango platters were ordered. She didn't mention any wait time for the mango platter. 20-25 minutes past and all of our friends orders had come out already. I called over a waiter to check on our order since we weren't told it would take awhile to come out, like the waffles that were ordered. Eventually one mango platter came out. I asked where the second one was and she said that there was only one mango platter left. ?????? Why wasn't I told there was only one mango platter left? It's hard to believe that since it was only 7pm and this place is supposed to be stocked with mangos, hence the name mango mango? Waitress lied to us because had not we asked about the second mango platter she would've just walked away. Don't lie to customers.
Mango Mango is a fruit fly breeding ground. Flying around, in your food, they're everywhere. When I got my dessert with a still-live fruit fly sitting on top of a piece of fruit, I flagged down the waitress and informed her. She attempted to tell me it was a strawberry seed or something, but I stopped her before she even got it out and asked her to look more closely. When she saw what I saw, she took it back and brought me a new dessert.
Insects-in-the-food aside, the desserts were pretty delicious. Items that you'd imagine to be tooth-achingly sweet were actually quite delicious. My friends and I shared several items; all were good except for the mango crepe cake, which was mushy and had a bizarre old-whipped-cream flavor I can't really describe.
Overall, I like the concept of Mango Mango, and can see myself coming back once they've resolved their fruit fly issue.
My main gripe with this place is the service. It sucks. To the bone.
My friend and I walked in with no welcome or greeting. Fine. We sat ourselves down wherever we wanted. Okay. We waited and waited because my friend said she's been here before and the waitress usually comes by and gives you the menus. But after chatting a bit and realizing that we were invisible in the eyes of the employees, we just got up and got the menus ourselves. After many minutes have passed, no one came over to our table. (It wasn't even a busy day.) I waved my hand and asked one of the workers, 'can we order?' to which she responded with a nod. We wait. Nothing. So I go up and ask, 'can I just order from here?' and she replies, 'i will go there. wait one moment.' So I go back to my seat, wait, and later the waitress comes.
We order. We wait. We get the A.05. Overall, it wasn't bad or anything. Just different. I'm definitely not returning for it. It's nothing special in my opinion.
I really didn't want to waste my money on giving them any tip at all. Because, friends, there was no service. Please, mango mango, hire some well mannered, kind, and competent employees.
The crepe was so fluffy and delicious, and I loved the original with just mango and those rice cakes in it. To die for. And I love how they have that picture printing machine for free, just ask how to use it, I believe you have to download we chat. The only reason I give them 3 stars instead of 4 is everything is on the pricier side, but I mean what can you say about new york city prices.
The original mango mango place, after I have been to their Chinatown location a couple of days back. This one was definitely much larger in space, and seemed to me had more extensive items carried on their menu.
While my friends were getting mango desserts, I opted for the watermelon slush, as I was not in a mood for sweet things. My slush was not too sweet, and carried a right amount of ice. Pretty comparable in terms of food quality.
They make a lot of desserts with mangoes (I think you can tell from the name of the place). But honestly, it's not all that special. The presentation of the dessert when given to you is an on and off thing. It can look ok sometimes and other times it might look like they're in a rush (even when no one is in the store). I personally love mangoes so any dessert with it would be considered good. But once again, here you can never tell what you'll get. Just cross your fingers, give it a try and hope for a lucky day.
Came in on a Saturday afternoon with a friend. We initially chose this place because it was relatively empty and looked like a great place to talk and catch up. We both ordered crepes which comes with your choice of a fruit and a scoop of ice cream. The fruits in both of our crepes were fresh and sweet. The crepe itself didn't really seem like your usual thin French crepe – it was thicker and a bit fluffy resembling more of a pancake texture than a crepe texture. Overall the desserts were good, just wish there was more space and tables weren't so close together.
I decided to give this place a try because of all the pictures I saw on social media. This is a small and cute dessert shop located in downtown Flushing. All the seats are arranged tightly together, which means by the end of your visit, you will feel very close to all the other patrons in the shop (whether you like it or not). I tried the crepe layer cake, and I was not impressed at all. The coconut ice cream was quite good though. Overall just a mediocre experience. I probably won't be coming back here for a while.
