  1. Have you always wanted a Spongebob Squarepants cookie? You're in luck, because they've got them here. Along with Hello Kitty, Spiderman, Thomas the Train and all sorts of other options. If they don't have your kid's character of choice, I'm betting they'd make it for you.

They even have a Cookie Monster cookie, which is strange. Does he eat himself? That's dark.

In addition to Little Mermaid cookies (I dig redheads), I've also eaten sandwiches from the little cafe. They make solid breakfast sandwiches, a decent pesto mozzarella melt, and you can sit quietly with lovely French music playing in the background. They don't move too quickly, but sometimes I don't really want to anyway.

  2. We stopped by for coffee after lunch at Van Horn. This place leaves a bad impression as the counter girl was not friendly. I felt rushed when we were browsing through their selections of pastries. We end up getting their chocolate chip, oatmeal, ginger snaps, and black & white w/ raspberry jam cookies and lattes. In comparison, Whole Food cookies are way better than Marquet. The chocolate chip, oatmeal, and ginger snaps were thin crisp pieces that resemble candy brittle. Latte was watery and tasteless. Most of the pastries were pretty designs and packages that was overpriced. We had better overall experience in Paris as well as with other French bakeries in the states. Skip and steer clear from this bakery! There are more bakeries to choose from in this area.

  3. On a snowy day, weary after a workout I needed a place to get some coffee and chill out for a bit.  Marquet Patisserie was near the gym so I stopped in and I'm so glad i did.  Combing a bit of modern design (mostly centering around the track lighting) this place looks more like an old fashioned cafe from another time.  The wood ounters, the large mirror on the wall and the metal ceiling with a classic pattern on it all work together to give this place a wonderfully warm and comfortable feeling.

During my visit I had the Chai Latte, which was very creamy and smooth with only minimal spice.  I generally prefer my chai a bit more spicy, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't tasty and comforting.  I also tried the mini-palmier and oatmeal raisin cookies.  Both were quite crunchy, different in texture than I'm used to.  Neither had particularly strong flavors.  I'd probably pick something else next time.

I'm glad I found this place and enjoyed hanging out there.  I hope to visit again some time!
