“And this one does not smell like a meat market, which can be very pungent in certain meat markets in Chinatown.”
“If I don't need to pick up anything else besides fresh produce, I will come to Bayard Meat Market (and its sister store next door for veggies).”

Every time I'm in New York my mother sends me out to find Orchard Sausages. The first time 7 years ago, she sent me to Orchard Street in Chinatown to find this factory that moved to Brooklyn a week prior I got into town.
Flash forward to this year and armed with the knowledge of knowing that they sell to groceries, I was able to get a suitcase worth of cured duck legs, pork belly, and lap cheong. Bayard Meat Market seemed to be one of the few places in Chinatown that carries the local Orchard Sausages as everybody else seemed to carry Kam Yen Jen (which makes this Seattle boy proud, but not what I want for local flavor).
Bayard Fish Market opened in Feb 2008 at the former location of Princess Lounge Karaoke Bar and Grill. They have a great selection of fresh fish and shrimps, seasonings, cooking oils and fresh vegetables. My mom always tells me if I shop here and next door at Bayard Meat Market, I don't have to go anywhere else and you know mommy is always right. Also, my mom swears the owners of the markets are brothers but don't take my word on that.
I think this is the place where I picked up some braised chicken feet, tofu skin, pork fat seasoned with sesame oil and salted chicken. I was kind of skeptical seeing that they had so many dishes pre-made but actually, they were all quite good… and cheap. I was very surprised by the quality. And there were people eager to sell you everything in sight and smell, which is cool by me! I like this place.
Great selection of some of your basic seafood, and not so basic (gator paws) at reasonable prices. Though a little tight on space.
Amazing place to pick up produce, dumplings, and Asian spices. Hard to beat prices too.
To go place to shop for all types of meat for yakiniku or hotpot- thin sliced beef, steak, ribs etc, and any Asian delicacies you name it, such as my favorite red beans and green beans.
Bayard, if only you appeared in my life earlier… I am so happy I found you!!!!
Quality Chinese butcher shop that offers traditional Chinese staples of ground pork, fish, whole duck, whole fish, whole chicken with the head (Lo Fans despise having the head of a chicken on their dinning table) but it is vital for worshipping and honoring our late relatives. Hot prepared foods are also available. 中 秋 節 Zung1 cau1 zit3 (Zhōng qiū Jié) Mid Autumn Festival is tomorrow! Price is reasonable. It gets the job done when grocery shopping to celebrate Chinese holidays and everyday living to desire such Asian food staples.
Large meat shop with two adjacent joining addresses: 57 Bayard Street and 59 Bayard Street. High quality produce specifically for Chinese.
A little pricier than some of the other places around here. But it is the sister shop to Bayard Meat Market, so we stopped here to get our seafood (mostly because it is extremely clean for a Chinatown establishment).
We got some fish fillets, great quality without water and bone mass which was nice. You grab what you want and give it to the nice Chinese man who sticks a price on it. We got two fillets for $4. Not bad at all!
There is a credit card minimum of $10.
