I love Green Farm! It's just a block from my apartment and I'm so glad to have option for groceries in the neighborhood. We all know that Compare Foods sucks and Metropolitan is SO expensive and crowded all of the time. Green Farm is never crowded and they have a bunch of items. They don't have meat and certain vegetables or obviously as much as a normal sized store, but they have lots of great produce and other shelf/freezer items. I can pretty much find anything I need here if I'm just picking up a few items. They have tons of "behind the counter" items as well. They also make orange juice and smoothies and such. They have baguettes! The prices here are great, especially on the produce. The produce here is so much cheaper than anywhere else, and always in good condition. They also sell flowers!
Ok maybe bodega isn't the right term; when I think "bodega" images of stale chips, over priced macaroni and cheese, and a guy serving up sandwiches with meat of questionable origins spring to mind. Green Farm is none of those things (nor is it on Greene street…..or a farm). what this place actually is, is a local spot to get high quality fresh food and fresh produce (not that produce isn't food….you know what I meant).
What a novel idea, fresh food from a corner store that isn't loaded with salt and preservatives!
They guys who run the place are super nice, they welcomed us in for the grand opening but the place was by no means totally done yet. the veggies looked fresh, the fridges were lined with organic drinks and hand made ice cream. Yes this place is on the pricey side, but that is to be expected as they serve up, you know REAL food. The bodega(s) down the street better hope Green Farm doesn't start making kale infused vegan wraps, as this place will become quite popular with the foodies in the neighborhood.
RIP cheese infused psudomeat sandwiches, my heart and cholesterol level are breathing a collective sigh of relief thanks to you Green Farm.
