  1. Real rating = 3.5 but they don't give .5's 🙁

Been meaning to try this place for years after seeing it featured on Food Network yearssss ago. I remember watching it and them saying they have thousands of different flavors but when i went in today, they only had 30 flavors! I guess they change their flavors every now and then??

Anyway, today I got the cookie monster and butter pecan. My friend got the java bean chip. The cookie monster and butter pecan were both good but were mouth watering good. My friend liked the java bean chip  except for the fact that it comes with actual whole pieces of coffee bean in it 🙁 so beware of that if you plan on getting it!

They have a wide arrangement of ice cream flavors from merlot (wine!!!) to corn on the cob and basics like chocolate and vanilla. I think 1 scoop was around $3 and 2 scoops was around $5.70.

Best bonus to this place is that the guy working there was extremely cute ^__^ he's a good enough to reason to return hehehe but the ice cream was goood too!

  2. I'm a total sucker for little novelty shops like this.

Plus it involves lots of icecream with weird flavors so obviously i'm in!

After indulging at Max & Mina's i can't say, "I've never had blue icecream".
Ladies and Gentlemen, I've had blue cookie monster icecream and i liked it. This creation will turn your whole mouth blue but with all those chunky pieces of chocolate chip and oreo mixed in, id say it was worth it.

They've got every flavor you can think of in this little shop, and probably lots of flavors that you'd never WANT to think of. BEER icecream? PIZZZA? Flavors for the risk takers in all of us.
The walls in here are also COVERED in shots of the owner posing with famous celebs and politicians including Mr.Bloomberg himself. He's caught chowing down on some funky icecream on numerous occasions.

I love this little shop, i will be back to try more and more and more flavors until i try something i can't stomach. Then i would still probably be back for more. Girls gotta have her icecream!

  3. I am so sorry for saying this, but I think Max & Mina's is a thing of the past.  There were many out of ordinary flavors to choose from, and I cowardly chose the strawberry.  Sure, those flavors can give people the initial shocks…Sure the shop is proudly plastered with pictures of its owners on various news paper from 10 years ago and celebrities who visited the shop…but the ice cream itself is only an ok.

  4. This place is awesome! I wish it was closer. It's your classic mom and pop ice cream shop but with more unique flavors. The staff is super friendly and will literally let you try every flavor if you so desire.

Beware though, they serve a heaping generous portion. This isn't a place to skimp on serving sizes or flavor though, so it is most welcome.

    Here's what I tried:
Twix – big chunks of chocolate and massive gobby swirls of caramel, perfect

Butterscotch Oreo – omg, brilliant. So tasty and a great butterscotch flavor

Cookie Monster – the blue is a little off-putting for adults but the flavor is perfect and they don't skimp on the mix ins.

Birthday cake oreo – very sweet, perfect for kids

Mint chocolate chip – great mint flavor, but no the herby kind (which I actually prefer) and again those heaping chunks of chocolate

This is a great spot for the summer and I'm sure kids go bananas for it. They don't have much seating so you'll have to take your ice cream and run. Or enjoy the weather.

  5. Max and Mina's ice cream is so creamy Godliness Goodness. Does that make sense. Where else can you get beer or lox ice cream. They offer such a selection here. Peanut butter chocolate, Oreo, strawberry vanilla at least 30 flavors with so many toppings as well If you can imagine it they probably serve it. It's Summertime, get some ice cream.

  6. Max & Mina's is a cute tiny ice cream shop that Can be easily missed if driving by the neighborhood. It has a lot of flavors considering it's a small shop. I tried the fruity pebble flavor ice cream and the garlic flavor ice cream. Both had a distinct flavor and just the right sweetness.

  7. Came here for National Ice Cream Day on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

First impressions of the shop is that it is really colorful! The walls are decorated with various candies and cereal boxes which are instantly a conversation piece with whoever your company is. There are also a variety of stickers along the counter which stem from different places throughout the country.

The menu was a bit confusing–I wasn't sure what was a flavor I could order and what was just a decoration. Although a bit frustrating, I got over it when I saw that the most interesting flavors were written plainly. I ended up ordering the "oreo based cookie dough" and the "churro" flavors ($6.50).

I was very impressed with the churro flavor! It was perfectly cinnamon-y with small doughy pieces mixed in. The cookie dough flavor was abundant with cookie dough but I wasn't sure what made it oreo based aside from the color; it seemed like a regular cookie dough ice cream to me.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this shop. I could imagine that if it's busy it would be tough to relax eating ice cream in here because of how cramped the ordering space is. Loved the ice cream though!

  8. My wife and daughter were raving about the ice cream here, so I went with my wife to give them a try. OK, it's ice cream yeah it was good but I've had better. They have a big selection and I sampled a few of the flavors and settled on "Hot Chocolate". It's chocolate ice cream with mini marshmallows. I still think Eddie's Sweet Shop has better ice cream and more convenient hours on the weekends, but the service at Max & Mina's is better.
