This place apparently has a great reputation, so I had to check it out. I'm glad that I did.
The extensive list of flavor options will leave you with big decisions to make. A quart of ices is $11, but I'd say it is worth it. The two flavors that I tried were both really great. I had both pistachio and black cherry cheesecake. I can't choose which was better, so just get them both.
They do have ice cream as well, but I did not try it. Their reputation is quite specifically for having amazing ices, not as much for their ice cream. They also offer a far wider array of flavor options in ices than in ice cream.
So many options. Fulfill your childhood dreams. You can try everything, now that you don't have parents holding you back. Yummy iced sugar, perfect for summer. It should have more of a friendly theme as it is a sweet treat shop. They lose one star for service.
Dolly's is a small shop that makes homemade Icces and Icecream. They have tons of unique flavors. It's always a head scratcher on which flavor to try next and they are all good. The service is okay. They are not overly friendly but I guess friendly enough. This places is popular in the neighborhood. When the weather gets nice everyone comes out to get one their frozen treats. Its a storefront setup where you go up to the window and order then walk away. There is a bench on the sidewalk but other than that there is no seating available.
Okay, I want to start off by saying I don't have a sweet tooth and am not a huge fan of sweets at all… But if I am anywhere CLOSE to Dolly's, I will always stop by. Their Graham Cracker and Snickers Ices are to die for!!!!!!!!!
Solid ice-y place. I had the cherry and the vanila oreo. Delish. Served old school style in a paper cup by a charming curmudgeon—he was nice and helpful but you can just tell, he's been around and seen some stuff. Not far from my home, I will totally be back at some point.
One of the best, well-established Italian ice and ice cream shops in New York City; it's a South Brooklyn mainstay. Their old location on Ave U. was an absolute classic but the new location is honestly a whole lot better. And being on a quieter avenue is certainly a benefit.
Never had a flavor I didn't like, but the Peanut Butter Jelly Ring combo is their claim to fame. There is a multitude of other peanut butter infused flavors. And not peanut butter, too, but you'd have to be one sick puppy to see peanut butter on an Italian ice menu and choose something else. What are you going to go with anyway? Canteloupe or something? Canteloupe was actually great, too. Whatever.
If you haven't yet been, please go.
This place brings back so many childhood memories in old mill basin! I love love love their rainbow ice they are never stingy on the size of the scoops and its cold and tasty on a hot summer day. The lines are crazy here in the summer but with so many options to choose from they will always make good business, their chocolate ices to their lemon ices and mango is just to die for. I still havent tried all their flavors and thats gonna be added to my bucket list. The staff never gave me any issues, they are always open to lettin you try a sample or two. I warn you their ices can get messy LOl 🙂
Used to stop at their old location on ave U (the little shack) all the time YEARS AGO and now I've found them just a couple of blocks away from their old spot ,now on ave T and like E58th or something like that .
After the first NOM-NOM i realized how much I've missed this place , i had a medium with 2 flavors (keylime pie and Vanilla Cookie dough) and man oh man was it frozen heaven!!
I would say its as good or even better than Ralph's Ices and im a Huge fan of Ralph's , sorry Ralph's ices but its true buddy .
Im not sure how long Dolly's has been around but i can tell you that its been around for atleast 35 years or so because i remember grabbing treats here as a kid (the old location) .
Now i work not live only mins away from here , so having rediscovered Dolly's just made my work day sooo much better.
The guy at the window was very kind and patient as i was having a hard time deciding on what flavors to go with and when i did decide he said "Great choices pal" . They have a LARGE selection of flavors from fruity flavors to dessert flavors . If you can think of it , they most likely have it !!
This fat kid will definitely be back for more , just hope i dont over do it !! Hope to see you all there soon , oh cmoonn and treat yourselves to some amazing ices !!
