I came to this Carvel to redeem a coupon for a free birthday cone. It's my birthday, and I can have an ice cream cone for lunch if I want to!
It was hesitantly accepted by the guy at the counter. Apparently their "swirl" function was broken, and my cone was sloppily put together with a pull of chocolate on the bottom and a pull of vanilla on top.
Fine; but what really killed my vibe was when I asked for rainbow sprinkles and he said, "The coupon is only for a small cone. Sprinkles are 80 cents."
…How you gonna make me pay 80 cents for sprinkles on my birthday though? BUH.
There is nothing "Elmhurst" about where this is located. Unless neighborhood lines are getting all re-drawn like in Brooklyn, this is totally located in JACKSON HEIGHTS. That aside this is pretty much your standard Carvel.
They have a satisfying selection of flavors that are easy to choose from – unlike Cold Stone or some froyo spots in which I end up standing there like a confused deer trying to figure out which type of vanilla I want in my cup.
Service here has always been friendly, efficient and speedy. Easy in, easy out – just the way a transaction should be.
Carvel – not the king of ice cream shops, but gets the job done and does it well.
