I've been going to this location for a few years and have only had a few times that the cupcakes were dry. The bigger issue is that they crumble apart so easily, you need a fork. I'm not sure why that is.
If you like french toast, they have a really good french toast cupcake with a thinner and lighter icing. I'm just not crazy about the other flavors. For me, this place or maybe the one cupcake I like, is better than other cupcake stores like House of Cupcakes. Mr. Cupcake has better prices too!
Sometimes they have groupons or living social deals but I have not seen any in awhile. I will be back for more.
In terms of specialty cupcakes, I think this is one of the better places out there. I've always gotten fresh cupcakes that weren't overloaded with frosting/toppings. I think the flavors mesh well together, I just wish they weren't so expensive.
I must say the 2 stars go to their canoli cupcake which was pretty tasty. My oldest daughter was nice enough to share. It's basically eating the canoli creme on top of a cupcake. The texture of the cupcake could of been a bit more moist, but I was satisfied with it.
Now as for the other 2 cupcakes:
Hot Chocolate With marshmallows….well I found this very dry. Once a cupcake is dry, I pretty much move on.
The fruity pebble cupcake was too sweet and my youngest son did not like it at all. The fruity pebbles on top were soggy….the frosting was just so sweet. He was so sad about it and I felt bad.
The service was friendly and I was luckily enough to get there on time because they close at 6p on weekdays.
They have a parking lot 3 stores down (All connected to Mr cupcakes) and sometimes if you get lucky you can get street parking right in front of the store.
Would I come again and give it another chance….ehh we will see. The price is not too bad… $2.00 per cupcake.
being from out of town, I have never had cupcakes like these before. I have tried a lot of them too. We normally get one for the whole weekend, and we try a few every day! red velvet, peanut butter and jelly, hot chocolate, triple chocolate, french toast, cookie jar (one of my faves), chocolate caramel swirl (another fave), snowball fight, tiramisu (fave), and coffee and donut (my ultimate fave). that last one even has a mini donut on top! They don't always have all these flavors so keep that in mind. I just know they are so delicious, and perfect amount of sweetness.
A co-worker brought two boxes in, so I was able to sample a few. While I'm not sure exactly what flavors I had, the ones I did have were not as dry and crumbly as previous reviews have noted. I think I had the oreo, chocolate, and red velvet cupcakes. The red velvet looks so artificial (the color), but it was fine. Cream cheese frosting was good
I wouldn't go out of my way to get cupcakes here, but if I was in the area, sure.
Eye and mouth candy!! Had the flan and tres leches. Must say they tasted very much like the real things but with a bready texture. Flan cupcake had a literal slab of flan on top while the tres leches had a maraschino cherry on top with the cheeses on the inside. Great service too. Street parking is aplenty.
Ohh Mr. Cupcakes how I love you so!!!!
First time at Mr. Cupcakes and I know I will definitely come back when I crave something sweet…
So many different flavors it was so hard to choose just 1 I had to order 8 lol…(I hope I don't get any cavities)
I ordered the canoli, red velvet , carrot, strawberry, chocolate, French toast…..
So far I've only had the French toast , red velvet and strawberry( no not all in one day) and I don't know what some of the reviewers have said I guess they went on a bad day regarding the cupcakes being dry and tasteless as the days go by the cupcakes taste fresher and moist not dry at all…
And what I like the most is that the cupcakes are not even that sweet ….
Give it try PEOPLE give it a try!!!!
This place is just the PERFECT blend of taste and price (aka value). I feel like there were lots of cupcake stores a few years ago, but this place stayed in my heart because they are cheap but good! I don't want to spend $4-5 on one giant cupcake. I love that they are a little smaller but it's not like they are bite sized. They are a regular size and something I can enjoy at the end of the meal instead of seeming like a meal itself.
They have a variety of flavors and periodically add new special ones. I've never had a disappointing one. Because of the good price, I like to by 4-6 to share with friends or to give to a friend after i know they had cake for their birthday, so it's an extra treat without being too rich that someone can enjoy it.
My only complaint is their hours. They are only open until 6 on weekdays, so when I drive by after work, I look over longingly. It would be so convenient for me after work vs. a weekend I have to intentionally decide I want the cupcake and drive over, so maybe there's the hidden benefit of keeping me from going overboard on these babies.
