“Definitely try them with the chipotle and jalapeño sauce, it makes the burgers taste even better!”

“Sure, 2 dollars is more than what you'd pay at White Castle, but you also are getting a much better slider.”

  1. After catching an early live music performance at Arlene's Grocery, my friend and I meandered up to Mark for a late meal.

Opting to sit at the bar, we ordered pints of Allagash White, which would accompany a couple of regular sliders each and a share of fries. The sliders, prepared with sautéd onions and topped with cheese, were tasty! The fries were good too, and more than enough to share.

Also, the fact that they don't just offer ketchup, but also chipotle ketchup and a jalapeño dip, was cool!

  2. I made it back for a repeat visit to Mark with all intentions of getting a Milkshake… imI had the shake of the month which was the Orange Cream Milkshake with some chili cheese fries.  The service was good, very attentive, friendly and the servers got right down to it as far as tsking our orders.

Our MilkShakes were the first thing to come out and made the people next to us envious, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! They were so good… blended perfectly, not to thick and not to watery. It was the highlight of the visit.

The fries were okay, not as good as I hoped… maybe if they were hotter it probably would've tasted better… however the jalapeño sauce they had at the table added a good extra kick of flavor to the fries. My husband had to sliders, I ended up stealing a piece and it was pretty good especially with the jalapeño sauce.

Overall I would definitely be back to try out their happy hour and a few other items on the menu.

  3. simple menu, quick service, solid food, affordable.

my boyfriend and i tried both the bacon & regular sliders along with an order of chili cheese fries. the sliders were good, couldve used a bit more seasoning. i found myself covering them in the chipotle or jalapeno ketchup. also, the bacon is actually in the slider, not slices placed on top like you'd expect. thinking this may be attempt to get a bit more flavor into the burger? the chili cheese fries were alright, the fries were a bit overdone. and the chili wasn't as meaty as i was expecting. the overall flavor of the cheese sauce was just not as cheesy as i was expecting. again, found myself dipping everything in chipotle ketchup. my bf did seem to really enjoy the fries though.

overall i think this could be a better spot for late night grub post a lot of beers.

  4. Okay the burger sliders here are insanely delicious. Perfectly cooked, and the meat, cheese and onions just melt in your mouth with each bite. The chili cheese fries are also on point. The fries portions are quite large, it will probably be enough to feed 2-3 people. Prices are also very reasonable.. $3 – $5 per slider.

The only negative thing I have to saw about this place is the less than enthusiastic service.. which explains why I had to give it 4 stars instead of 5. I came here around 5pm, and I sat at the bar. The bartender was a lady that pretty much seemed angry at the world. I felt like I was really an inconvenience to her. I'm sorry you hate your job and you don't know how to smile or be nice to customers. A lot of times its not what you say, but it's how you say it. She asked me if I wanted something to drink, and I said no thank you because I had my own waterbottle.. then she said I can't have that in the restaurant… which I understood, but she seemed really angry and annoyed by it. Nevertheless, instead of someone who would offer you water, I had to ask for it because I couldn't drink from my own waterbottle. But even asking for water seemed to really annoy her. Sorry I asked for water!

The food here is wonderful. Hire another bartender who knows how to be nice to customers. Thank you.

  5. The BF had wanted to try Mark for a while and I happened to be in the mood for a burger this past Saturday night.  He ordered four regular sliders and I decided to mix and match (one turkey, one veggie, one regular).  We also split an order of fries.

The sliders were very underwhelming.  I actually preferred the turkey and veggie over the regular – but in any case, all three lacked flavor.  After reading so many good reviews, we were both disappointed and agreed that the food barely met average standards.

The BF actually woke up sick in the middle of the night, which never happens!  You're better off getting sliders at any old pub!

  6. 3.5-4 stars. Ordered a slider through UberEATS. Thought it was a very juicy and a solid slider. I was afraid medium would be too much but turned out to be the perfect balance of rare vs. cooked. I added bacon on the slider as well but I think they forgot it. 🙁

I'm not normally a burger person so probably won't order from here regularly, but it's definitely a solid option if you're looking for quality burgers/a quick lunch! Prices are very reasonable as well!

  7. I was really disappointed by this place. There is a lunch special but only during the weekdays. I ordered 2 sliders: Bacon Slider and Turkey Slider, as well as the Mocha milkshake. My friend and I shared fries, which was good because they give you a lot. In retrospect, we should have gotten the cheese fries.

The milkshake came out looking lovely with whipped cream and chocolate sauce on top, but the taste fell flat for me. The shake wasn't very thick and while I tasted the chocolate, there wasn't much mocha flavor.

The sliders themselves were a decent size, but I was expecting the Bacon Slider to come with bacon, alongside the meat. However, there was NO bacon with it; the bacon was added to the meat patty itself. I had no idea it was going to come that way and I really didn't enjoy the method they used. Then, for the Turkey Slider I expected regular turkey meat, but it was actually a mix of different vegetables and seasonings that didn't mesh well together. It was more like a "turkey meatball," the waiter described. I actually switched that slider to a pulled pork one which was much better. The pork was tender and juicy, the sauce flavorful and yummy. There was raw onion on top which I didn't mind. French fries were on point though: Crispy with much potato flavor!

The waiter was also really accommodating and nice. I don't think I would go back though.

  8. Sure, classic full size burgers get all the attention, but what if I want multiple burgers? Beef and Turkey, cheese and no cheese! Onions and no onions! Multiple burgers! Enter the slider, and who out there does sliders better than Mark?

Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?

In contrast to the more trendy higher end fast casual spots where you can put all kinds of nonsense on your wagyu beef and bone marrow burger, Mark sticks to the classic dive model, and there ain't nothing wrong with that. Dark, a bit loud, and right out in front of the kitchen, the vibe is a great one, and my server was attentive without being overbearing. I loved the ability to see the chef throwing down burger after burger on the grill, and by the end of my stay I was a happy man thanks as much to the atmosphere as the product. Star Granted.

Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?

Want a slider? It'll cost you $2.95, and two or three will be just about right to fill you up. I opted for one beef one turkey, and was perfectly content at the end of it. Star Granted.

Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?

Wow. Don't get me wrong: I love a contemporary trendy burger with a luxury patty and diverse toppings as much as anyone, but the simplicity of the burgers at Mark is an absolutely beautiful thing. They go heavy on the onions when the patties are on the grill, and the result is some wonderful flavor whether you've got a turkey or beef patty on your hands. The cheese is perfect, the buns a wonder in their own right, and all in all I could eat these all day. Dual Stars Granted.

Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?

You absolutely need to come to Mark, but the burger scene in NYC is so competitive that I can't quite recommend it as a daily stop. No Star Granted.
