With few options in FiDi, this is my go to. The place is small and definitely feels cramped but it has what you need if you're getting things last minute and the people are friendly. I don't think the prices are actually much higher for hard alcohol than at most other liquor stores.
Compared to the hotel mini bar, this place is a bargain! I got a bottle of Ravens Wood Vintners Blend Cabernet for about $14. I'm not sure how much it cost elsewhere, but I can tell you that half the wine will cost you $22 at the hotel. There was a good selection of hard liquor and wine.
It's a small place and the aisle is big enough for 1 person at a time. Luckily, I was one of 2 customers in there. There were 2 people working behind the counter, neither one spoke to me…which I prefer. Does that make me anti-social? Unfortunately, that's not up for discussion.
I loved this place! It was totally like the scene in Moonstruck where Cher gets a split of bubbly from a tiny mom and pop shop where they were obviously "famiglia" and you just felt like this could be a place you would be welcomed back over and over again. More importantly, even though it was SO crowded, it being New Year's Eve, they had cases laid out of Champagne, extra staff, (kids came in to help?) they still managed to be really friendly. AND…the prices were good. I was fully expecting to spend more. In fact it was cheaper than my favorite harlem wineries. Yay…happy new year to me!
