Back in the day, the only places where you'd buy Italian ices were, in pizzeria shops in The Bronx and other boroughs. But in the last few months, Ralph's Italian Ices, made their way up to Westchester!
Ralph's is only an eat-out parlor with a few hexagon-styled metal, picnic tables, located in the quiet town, of Mamamoreck, bordering Harrison. Large, colorful menu boards dominate the exterior of Ralph's that are divided into, 'Water Ice', 'Creme Ice', Shakes, Sundaes and so many other goodies. Even at 9:40, Ralph's was popping with people, trying to get a scoop, (or 2 or 3) of their many frozen flavors that sound heavenly. Employees are young and efficient and tried to service everyone there. However, Ralph's is very firm on their hours, and if you're not served by 10 (or 11), recheck yourself and start thinking about what your next plan is gonna be. My Chocolate ice was all velvety and dense in cocoa, but the Passion Fruit Ice, also caught my eye and I just couldn't leave without tasting it…I asked for a sample and the flavor, in thought, took me, to the Dominican Republic.
Despite being a crowded house, we made ourselves comfy and enjoyed our Ices, but wasn't fond of Ralph's sloppy side exterior: boxes against the walls and garbage cans spilling over. Here's a tip Ralph's….to adhere to the attractiveness of the town of Mamaroneck, perhaps you can invest in several, latticed, garbage can enclosures- and keep your trash cans hidden from everyone's view!
I'm happy that Ralph's made it to the suburbs and will definitely return for more, except…I'll be taking it home, even if it's a watery mess by the time I get home. My overall review, would be to mention that they have outstanding and rich flavors. But, nothing grinds my gears than a disorganized restaurant's layout. Perhaps, management can make some tweaks, in their exterior design.
