  1. This bakery is a hole-in-the-wall near the Rockville Centre train station.  If you are claustophobic, beware of entering this bakery early in the morning.  That being said, the best selection is early in the morning–because everything is so good that it will easily go.

The black and white cookies are the best in the area, but their best creation hands-down is their chocolate raspberry cake.  The cake is beautifully-decorated, completely decadent and stays fresh for at least a week.

  2. Front Street Bakery is such a solid staple in this town. Every holiday, they are jam packed inside so you may end up staying outside.. AKA, you WILL end up standing outside. But so well worth it. Their Crumb Cake is to die for! (You'll thank me later). Another personal favorite of mine is the Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake (I get it every year for my birthday). I've never had their Dot Cookies, but everyone goes crazy for them! My advice, if you're going there during the holidays, place your oder in advance!

  3. I really try to eat a healthy breakfast every week day morning, which the only time I'm precluded from doing so is when I've had a little too much to drink the night prior.  However, this morning I walked into my office and as I rounded the corner I smelled an aroma of fresh pastries.  I obviously eyed them up and kept walking to my desk.  Moments later one of my co-workers came by to let me know he brought in breakfast for everyone and then began to talk about how this bakery is so amazing; they are next to a church and not even open on Sundays (that's how much they don't need the business) and how they made a cake for P. Diddy once, etc etc etc.  So clearly this made me really curious and I had to try!  I believe I had half of a raisin cheese danish and oh my goodness.. it was delectable!  So moist and as my other co-worker said, "soft and spongey!"  I hate to admit that something in Long Island is good, but good job Front Street Bakery.

  4. This is an amazing and authentic old time bakery. Their display cases are loaded with tasty treats. Since my wife grew up on their black and white cookies, we all got one. They were fantastic. Every town should have a shop like this.

  5. This is a cash only business. They have a German Chocolate cake that they make on Fridays. Delicious. Everything is fresh. Lines extend outside because it is a small store serving many clientele. Great cakes. Excellent bagette breads.

  6. Front Street Bakery is an itty bitty, teeny tiny bakery by the train in RVC. It is also responsible for the greatest little cake that I still dream about – the chocolate chip. Everything about it, from the cake flavor and texture to the frosting, was fantastic. We are it over a few days and it didn't lose any of its deliciousness. The service was also super sweet! I only wish the bakery were open every day!

  7. A few months ago my friend got her birthday cake from Front Street. After gobbling up about 3 pieces in 1 sitting, I vowed to come back. Unfortunately the odd hours of operation have deterred me, but I managed to check it out this past Saturday.

I stepped in and was shocked to see a line formed at 8AM on a Saturday. I can only assume people love them some Front Street goodies.

I got an iced coffee, a cheese danish, and a small black and white cookie. The iced coffee is the best in the area-much better than Dunkin Donuts. The danish was the perfect balance of cheesy and sweet. The black and white cookie was soft, just like it should be.

Reasonably priced. All 3 items cost me no more than $6. Definitely one of the best bakeries in the area.

  8. They sell sfogliatelle & cannoli.

    I eat sfogliatelle & cannoli.

    I like sfogliatelle & cannoli.
