i like this place. come here a lot LATE night/early morning. no more sushi 🙁 and always check the "packed on" date on packaged produce. great prices, really friendly staff.
OCD Organic spotters might not find the same quality of Whole Foods type produce here, but for being one of the only "clean produce" spots in Woodside, it does the job just fine. People feeling or looking to get their health on in the middle of Queens, this is a spot that is right next to the train.
The layout isn't the most friendly, sometimes smaller fruits / veggies get moved to different spots at a moment's notice. It's interesting to see some of the patrons here – who usually don't look like they're locals to the hood. I think one reason that is pretty evident right away is the price. It's never cheap going organic, but as the saying goes, *when it comes to your health* a higher price tag is worth the trouble.
When there is layout changes, the staff is usually friendly enough to point out where the new lemons and kiwi pile is currently located and are usually pretty fast about locating stuff for folks. There used to be more offered here than just produce like sushi and even waffles, but I haven't seen those for quite some time.
For those wondering, would I rather Jin's or Whole Foods? Since I'm not living in suburbia with a car, I'm going to go with Jin's. The quality is there, the price tag feels a bit steep but is warranted for some produce, and the people are nice. With the inventory constantly changing to make way for new and fun stuff, means there will be repeat visits down the line.
Decent produce store conveniently located near the 61st train station.
They have a nice fresh fruits and vegetable section. In addition their organic/health section is quite expansive. Nice dried fruits and nuts. Reasonable prices. A good place to pick up some snacks for the day.
I will almost always support the local fruit and veg grocer over a super market. Why? Lord knows how long supermarkets leave their produce hanging out. Jin's produce is very high quality. Albeit organic and about 50 cents more but I would do quality over quantity any day. Their broccoli and kale are legitimately so fresh and beautiful.
I also bought oranges for an unheard of 3 for $1 and they were candy sweet! Yes this isn't a whole foods when it comes to very specific varieties but I love the people who work here! They always smile whenever I come by because I like to bring my own shopping bags. I can't vouch for the stuff that's in the aisles because I've only bought produce. It's nice to see a healthy place in the neighborhood.
FYI – avocados are $1 each and they're allllll equally perfectly ripe. They are conveniently located by the register.
One of my Woodside organic store spots! I love that they have a huge variety of organic products. This one is located under the 7 train on Roosevelt Ave. There is another organic store on 61st between Roosevelt and Woodside Ave but it's a quarter of the size and the selection is small. I don't leave here without picking up a bag of yogurt covered raisins. How could I not there right there on the checkout counter. Yummy
