One of the multiple choices for breakfast options in this vicinity, they have a menu board out front that advertises a two egg, toast and coffee breakfast for $2.95. I'm usually in too much of a rush to sit, so I don't even bother with the hot food. Instead, I go to the separate coffee station and get a muffin to go with a large coffee. Less than $4 is a good deal.
Bonus: In addition to "coffee" in an urn, they also have a half-dozen coffee pots with flavored brews including Hazelnut, Chocolate, Irish Coffee and the like.
As the dreaded Californian with preset standards about what I can digest, I come to our Jersey City office often enough to start forming opinions about the nearby eateries. This barely qualifies as one as I have stopped here a couple of times before heading into the building next door. But hey, they serve Mexican for lunch, so it must be a fiesta of fun in here, right? Not so much, especially in the morning when everyone looks fit to be tied, especially the office workers who can't be bothered to be cordial to the servers.
I've come here a couple of times for a bite of breakfast and got the same thing, the $2.25 Egg with Sausage on a Roll, which is like an Egg McMuffin with no personality or even enough grease to make it a guilty pleasure (see photo). It's exactly what it is and nothing more. But hey, sometimes you just want to avoid the crowd at Cosi next door where the production line can seem endless just before the morning whistle blows. Will I come here again? Oh probably. It ain't as if Jersey City is the culinary capital of the Mid-Atlantic seaboard. Hey, don't put that cement overcoat on me!
