  1. The produce shopping experience at Colombo's is like taking a ride back to the past where relationships with your butcher, baker and candle stick maker were strong and ran deep.
Today we have super, mega Marts with such a sterile feel and corporate conglomerate merger/takeover, that have no resemblance of the cherished Mom and Pop shops I hold dear as does my family going back a few generations.
Middle Village is still a strong hold for that piece of America I dearly ope will one day be restored, break the chain my friends.
Small carts, older, time beaten bins filled with imperfectly stacked specials for the day's specials (last Saturday was three for one artichoke's) the fruits and vegetables are sold in season and are abundant in quantity. You can scoop and bag your own nuts, the canned tomato sauce and olive oil  options are items of super quality and have little to do with Car Gill, Arthur Daniels Midland and that bunch and more of Italian specialty items that cost pennies more, but deliver on the stove.
When you walk out of Columbo's there is a sense the money is well spent on fine product and still keeping a piece of America in tact, not lining the pockets of the corporations.
