  1. Good, convenient location and clean, but too pricey for what they offer.  Not a huge selection of grocery items, but one of the largest grocery stores in the area.  Employees are only mildly friendly. While this place is slightly cheaper, I'd rather go to Frank's across the street.

  2. this place has some good deals. just know prices. its up on the hill. gotta walk a lot of stairs to get here but its the closest grocery store around. i'll probably be coming back for the necessity of groceries. maybe shop around for other items.

  3. I had a flashback of extreme childhood nostolgia walking into this grocery store this evening. Growing up in the country, we had our local IGA, Canaan Market, full of small aisles, your basic grocery items, and old people hogging the free space.

Associated, thanks for bringing me back to my childhood…whether I liked it or not.

Admittedly, for your basic "stock the pantry" items, this place has anyone well covered. The aisles are stocked so decoratively I almost felt like I was ruining masterful and carefully thought-out art as I removed two Goya Black Bean cans from their spot on the shelf. I'm surprised some artistic Associated stock boy didn't give me a beatdown for ruining his vision. But this girl here left with multiple cans of tuna, black beans, chicken broth, laundry soap, and food containers for a REDONKULOUSLY reasonable price. I forgot what it's like to pay for dirt cheap groceries. *sigh* Once again, nostolgia…

As for the produce here? Let's put it this way: I will be going on the 1 train back to Westside Market on occasion to stock up. I bought some spinach. I bought some carrots. I bought a questionable cucumber. I bought the pack of grape tomatoes that had the least amount of mold on them / fruit flies copulating on them. I…am slightly afraid to consume said items.

The girl at the cash register? WHAT A DOLL. As much as I adore Westside Market, the people running the registers have always been business: swipe the food, swipe the debit card, pack your stuff, forcing out a "Have a nice evening" as they start to swipe the next customer's groceries, with little to no eye contact. I was almost taken aback by the sweet girl that gingerly handed me my receipt as she smiled and said, "Have a nice evening!"

Associated Supermarket of Fort Washington Avenue: Good for stocking up on your basics for cheap. Scary produce. Sweet cashiers. That's my final assessment.

Oh, I'll end up going back, won't I?

Yes. Yes I will. (When it's the closest  full grocery store to you that isn't a bodega or a "superette", and eating is a human necessity, I can't NOT.)
