  1. I went here today with my roommates for a food adventure. The food was amazing and each place I went was definitely worth 4-5 stars. However the event needs to be better managed. I'm sorry, but strollers should not be allowed if there is a huge crowd and not enough space.

Overall it was a good time and I would definitely go back next year.

  2. Most of the food vendors here are from Smorgasburg so I don't know how I should react. I mean it's a good thing that they all gathered to the Hester Street location, it's definitely more convenient for a lot of people but the food vendors are basically all the same. I didn't buy anything to eat because the lines were so damn long and it was really pricy for the amount of food you get. The vibe is chill but I think I'll stick to Smorgasburg next time. I went to Chinatown to grab some cheap grub afterwards. hehe

  3. Oh, Mother Nature, why did you have to make for such an abnormally cold day for the 2015 Grub Street Food Festival? No amount of layers could have prepared me for the whirling wind tunnel that's at the corner of Hester & Essex.

Regardless, the festival was pretty great, even if I couldn't feel my fingers or ears. Heh.

Akin to any other food festival I've been too, there were the seemingly usual players in the hot NYC food vendor scene, with a little more corporate sponsorship that Smorgasburg. (Heh.) I did appreciate the large seating area in the middle of the area, with the vendors surrounding it on the outside of the (literal) track. I admittedly didn't get to as many vendors as I wanted to, because…COLDDD. Too cold! The cold really put a damper on it all. I was pleased to try the Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese at When Pigz Fly, though the pasta got cold fast. My friend Lauren waited 30 minutes for an Eggette, a Hong Kong-style pancake, which was pretty tasty. I indulged in some marshmallows and a freshly-torched s'more from Squish. Food Baby and the actor that played the Soup Nazi in "Seinfeld" wandered around to some fanfare, it it did make for some exciting moments in the hour I spent there.

I look forward to returning for the 2016 edition, but I'll start praying now for an Indian Summer day.
