Great place for healthy "fast food"!! Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options such as falafel bowls, salads and hummus. You can choose from set menu items or be creative and create your own bowl! Choose from a base of greens or grains and then your choice of protein and finally other toppings such as mushrooms, hummus , etc
The store was big and clean with lots of seating. I came at dinner time and it wasn't too busy. Not sure what the lunch crowd is like. Service was good. I got a bowl and the roasted red pepper hummus was smooth & delicious. The organic mushrooms were a great addition! It also came with whole wheat pita bread instead of white pita!!
I didn't try the falafel but I believe they are baked which is awesome! You can definitely tell Nanoosh strives for many healthy items on their menu.
I would definitely return here for a quick healthy meal !
So this place is great…
Everything is natural, whole and most of which is organic. Super excited to have discovered Nanoosh. Very clean atmosphere and friendly service.
I ordered the powerfood plate, which is a create your own (base, protein and sauce). I tried the Farro with Chicke Shawa and Hummus with Tahini. Overall very yummy! The chicken had a tad too much nutmeg flavor so next time I will try the marinated chicken.
They were passing around some samples so I got to try all three soups: lentil, butternut squash and tomato. All tasted fresh and healthy. I liked the butternut squash the best.
They have two flavors of unsweetended ice tea and a lemonade.
I had Nanoosh yesterday, and Crisp today. And let's just say Crisp and Maoz, which sell similar bowls, are a thousand times better and at least $3 cheaper for the same damn thing. It cost almost $13 for a falafel bowl… something like $12.XX which I find ridiculous. I could go to Taim and pay the same amount for far better quality and tasting food and far more quantity, too. 2 stars exactly – yes, I've experienced better in both cost, quality, and taste – the most important things when it comes to food. I love my fair share of falafel. I had three falafel bowls 3 days in a row from Nanoosh, Crisp, and Maoz – this was my least favorite of them all, unfortunately. I really wanted to like it, but after having the same thing in the span of 3 days, Nanoosh just falls short.
I ordered a Power Quinoa bowl with falafel – falafel costs extra on top of the $8.95 that you already have to pay for the quinoa. You get two free toppings, in which I got hummus (on the side) and Mediterranean salad (kind of like Israeli salad). The falafel is baked, so obviously not crunchy on the outside. That's fine, but these falafel were cold and didn't have much flavor to them at all. The hot sauce was not spicy at all. Hummus was actually good as was the pita, which saved this dish from being a complete failure. The pita was warm and fresh.
I wanted to like this place and give it a chance, but after having all these other falafel places, I realized there are many, many places better tasting and cheaper.
Nanoosh its steps away from my office and I've been eating here weekly and have neglected to leave a review. After today's lunch I was inspired to actually leave some feedback on what has become a top choice for lunch near the job.
I get the same thing every time. The power food plate. It's simple yet filling and delicious. You construct your own plate by picking a base (carbs/greens/etc) , protein and 2 toppings. I usually the greens as a base. They give you a blend of FRESH leafy greens and I add the chicken shawa and hummus and lentils as my toppings. Finally you pick from a few sauce options and bam! You have a delicious, fresh, healthy (as healthy as you make it) plate of Mediterranean goodness. What makes this dish to me is the chicken shawa, this chicken is seasoned/marinated to perfection! They also give you a pita to eat with your meal.
Nanoosh gets a 4.5, the food is really good. The only thing I'm not ecstatic about is the price. My power food plate comes out to about $13. That's definitely more than I want to spend on lunch. This is why I only eat here once a week. I'm aware that they are giving you fresher, better ingredients than pretty much anyone in the area so the price isn't too egregious but it's still cost prohibitive to eat as often as I would like.
Awesome quick healthy vegan option near own station. They have managed to combine tasty, healthy
It's great to see more healthy fast food options popping up in NYC. Similar to Chickpea, Nanoosh serves Mediterranean dishes such as falafel that can be paired with other healthy sides.
I had an order of falafel (which comes baked) with a tomato kind of sauce on top and quinoa on the side. It also comes with some bread and a side of hummus. The dish was exactly as it looked, healthy and tasty. Definitely not the most delicious falafel, but it was excellent as a healthy and filling meal. The hummus was delicious though.
The place itself has an open concept with various types of seating spread about and utensils/condiments in one area. Once you place your order, it takes only a few minutes for your food to be ready, which is served on a tray you can take to your seat. There are also various drinks to choose from as well.
Great place that I'll definitely be coming to more when I'm in the mood for a healthy meal and am in the area.
Yummy, healthy Mediterranean food.
I got a powerfood platter with roasted red hummus, chicken shwama, salad, and feta. It came with a good-sized pita too.
It looked kinda small but was VERY filling.
So fresh and so green and super clean! I absolutely loved this place. As I have mentioned in past NYC reviews, I love that there are so many healthy fare places on almost every corner. This place just screams nutrition. I ordered one of their salads with all the goods: avocado, quinoa, tomatoes and chicken with the yogurt caesar dressing. The salad was so filling and delicious that I could barely finish the entire thing. I loved the dressing though; it was so yummy! My husband ordered a salad and it was enormous, too. We had more than enough food to feed 3 people. Completely stumbled on this place and so glad that we did. If you are trekking through NYC and come across this place, you will love it! It's super clean, bright and highly organized. Next time I am back in NYC and looking for a yummy health food place, I hope to run into this place again!
