  1. Such a wonderful place to sit outside with your dog, drink a cup of coffee, and soak in some sun. The spinach pies, and hummus are delicious!

The staff is hospitable, fast, and accommodating.

    CONS:
They open at noon on Sunday. Wish they would open earlier so I could sit and have some breakfast after my morning walk.

  2. It was a beautiful day and I wanted to enjoy lunch outside, it had been years since I dined at Theater and they had outside seating so off we went.

There were a handful of tables inside and out with patrons seated.  We were brought menus and water once we sat and placed our order after a few minutes.  We started off well, but went downhill from there.  After 30 minutes our waitress acknowledge that we were still waiting on our order and said the kitchen was backed up.  I'm not sure why this was since there were not a ton of people seated. After another 5 minutes our order arrived.  1 chicken panini and 1 ham and cheese crepe.  There was no way that the chicken for the panini was cooked to order, it was as dry as a hockey puck.  Just terrible.  The crepe at least was somewhat enjoyable, but I was just so aggravated with the wait and the panini it didn't provide much comfort, although it earned the second star.  I hadn't seem our waitress since we were served so decided to just go in and get the check and pay right there.

I think I'm done with this place.

  3. Have you ever experienced this situation: A local eatery somehow evades your attention, you finally go, enjoy it thoroughly and gripe to yourself about having not gone sooner.

As was my experience yesterday at the Theatre Cafe. Admittedly, I really didn't see the location succeeding based on its sheer size coupled with the fact that Metropolitan Ave is a tricky area for food and beverage. A great restaurant can fall flat on the avenue and many have, much to my chagrin.

The lunch menu is very extensive, with a Mediterranean flavor, forcing me to order two lunches. The Rustica crepe was outstanding. Ham, cheese and mushrooms (which could have been sauteed a bit) was light, flavorful and inexpensive.

My Greek Spreads or Sampler (not the correct name, soon to be edited) was interesting, but it did not fit the bill for a lunch meal. Pita points surrounded the Flipiti, roasted red pepper with feta and onion, ground into a puree. The Taramosalata had a red caviar base and ground up finely, then mixed with a creamed cheese of some smooth and delicious sort. The Tzatziki and Baba Ganoush portions, rounded off the four spreads. The Baba was missing some ingredient I can't quite put my finger on, but it needed more of an enhanced flavor.

Spectacular service, local, priced well. Yea, I'll be back soon.

  4. The food is decent.
The atmosphere is awesome. I love coming here to just relax and have a cup of coffee.
Its close to home, and its a nice way to "get out of the house".
    The staff is super friendly.
    I really like coming here.

  5. Went here on a Groupon that had expired.  It's a cute place, nicely located next to the Cinemart Theater, so it must do well with the after theater crowd.  I guess for that, I'd go for a coffee and a quite good warm chocolate cake.  But I tried a Panino and it lacked what a Panino needs- flavor and a great bread.  Perhaps I'm spoiled by Panino Rustico in Brooklyn?

  6. I thought this place was great! It was the first time I went there and I loved it. I loved that they have outdoor seating and wanted to sit outside but it was pretty busy, so we dined inside. The inside was pretty cozy and had a nice atmosphere.  I went with my sister and she only wanted dessert but I wanted food as well so I ordered the Grilled chicken panini. I thought it was pretty good and it was made super fast which was great. Now on t the dessert, they have a good selection of desserts, so picking one was fun. My sister wanted ice cream and ordered the Classic Tartufo, which she really enjoyed. I ordered the Hazelnut Ganage  and it tasted amazing! Overall, when I am back in NYC, I will be back to try another one of there delicious desserts and sit outside.

  7. The cafe adjacent to the Cinema Theater that we went to few hours ago after watching a movie. It has a theatrical ambiance, movie posters were hanged in the wall. Lounge chairs and bistro tables are plentiful. They have outdoor seating too. The has a charming vibes. A perfect place for simple gathering, get together or anything in your mind.

The menu is simple , few selections but prices are reasonable. Foods taste were okay. It has big serving size .

Employees are nice, very welcoming . They want cash for tips.

    I'll come back if needed.

  8. My first time here. It was a warm night so we sat outside. The inside is nicely decorated and the bathroom is clean.

I was a little disappointed that the menu was so small and that they didn't offer fries with their wraps but the food was good. The service was a little slow, I'm guessing because it was a Tuesday night and only one waitress was on staff, but she was friendly enough.

I'm still kinda undecided about this place. Looks like they have an extensive dessert menu though, might come back just for dessert.
