Pianos

“We danced and danced (and drank and drank) until about 2am, and when we left there was a line around the corner of people trying to get in!”

“Things like that are always appreciated and will make this place a destination next time I'm in the LES.”

“The back room on the first floor had a DJ playing house music and a second guy working a light and visual show.”

  1. Strong $4 Frozen Margaritas for their 2-8PM Happy Hour. Weekends here are a mess, but this place is a gem off-peak hours. The ground floor bar is really pretty and the food is surprisingly *very* good (order the fries, every time).

DO: come here before 8PM any day of the week, especially early in the week.  Mon/Tues/Weds happy hours will have people but won't be busy.  It's the perfect amount of people.  If you only come here on weekends, you'll never know anything but the mobs of people and 4 rows deep of people waiting for drinks.

  2. Not a dive bar kind of person at all. But I do have my moments depending on the night and how sober- ish I am or not. One of my favorite spots for a dive bar. However, it can get overwhelmingly crowded. Summer is here and be sure that the lines will be wrapping around the corner to get inside! (I dread the lines.. Flirting goes a long ladies.. =) Get in and dump em! Unless their cute lol

Adventures in here consist of borrowing tourist from Britain.
I found money on the floor. Yay
    Free drinks.
    All Sorts of Awesome Crowd.

Cons: Place gets pretty pack. Back to back. Hot flash moment.

  3. I've been wanting to come here for a LONG time! The lines here are always long, even on the random tuesday night that we dropped by.  Luckily, we were able to breeze right in.  Walk in, you'll be greeted with some amazing hip hop music and a decent sized bar.  Walk upstairs, another bar area with a decent amount of seating.  There seems to be some benches around the corners by the stage for the "VIPs". Drinks were ok, wings were pretty good, entertainment upstairs is hit or miss.  Walk back downstairs, through the glass door and there is another stage where the "real show" takes place.

Overall, I get why this place is so packed all the time, but I may be just a bit too old to appreciate it fully.  This place is filled with folks in their early 20's.

  4. Let me preface this review. I'm 28, if you're my age or older, you probably won't enjoy this place. However, if you're between the ages of 22-25, this may be your scene.

This place is RATCHET and there is usually a line outside. Let's be frank, Pianos is a dive bar with hip-hop music and mediocre drinks. A pint of Stella Artois will cost you $8 bucks.

The venue is split into several rooms. The main room is just a place to sit down and grab a drink – nothing special. The back room has a stage and is very small. Sometimes they'll charge cover if there is a band/live performance. The second floor is much larger and is also pretty rachet. Typically, they charge a $10 cover to go upstairs.

  5. A LES staple! You can always count on Pianos to be open late, have great music and a fun crowd. Very casual spot, not somewhere you start your night but a great place to end it. Upstairs everyone is dancing to hiphop/top 40s and the drinks are affordable. The space itself isn't that big and fills up quickly. Overall good vibe, check it out if you're in the area!

  6. Really enjoyed the live jazz and the cool cucumber drink I had but perhaps it was too early for the turn up so many friends have raved about. It was about 6PM on a Saturday. Also, there was happy hour so my friends who wanted $4 well drinks, wine, and beer were happy. But since I got a house cocktail it was full price $12. Luckily my friend paid for drinks although it was a delicious drink it would have sucked to pay full price when everyone else was on happy hour. Although good drinks are worth the money for sure. Didn't get to try the food which might have increased my rating so would return to try the fried pickles one of my personal favorites.

  7. Fun place if you have ADD and want to experience several different things in one bar. The line was ridonkulous and we almost walked away, but decided to try our hand at walking to the front and they let us skip everyone with no cover. Being a girl has its perks sometimes.

My friends dragged me to the "dance party" upstairs, and I loved the music, hated the space. It was hot, small bar with eh drink offerings. Everyone was slamming into each other so much I kept checking my drink if someone's hair fell into it.

I liked the first floor a lot better, but having a seat at the bar and drinking a Guinness poured perfectly by the older bartender (who reminded me of Daryl Dixon in 10 years) suits me better at my age. We didn't check out the band area.

$1 coat check, 3 bathroom downstairs and 1 in the main floor.

  8. Mmmmmm literally the best frozen margaritas at the best $4 happy hour prices.

The nachos are out of this world too with a bit of a mediterranean and indian kick: topped with chickpeas and what tasted like a spicy tamarind salsa with a side of sour cream and great guac.

I must have come on an off peak Sunday as we easily grabbed a table. Could easily make frequent appearances here!
