  1. Airport food is getting better these days (JFK has not one, but TWO Shake Shacks!). Sadly, gustatory gentrification has yet to hit LGA and it's evident with this here Metro Burger Bar.

It's almost hard not to blame them for having a mediocre product, it's the only place in the terminal to get hot food and a cocktail. If you're flying Air Canada, this is your only option. Take it or leave it, pal.

Not sure if the chef missed an important ingredient of the poutine recipe faxed down from Poutine HQ in the Northeastern provinces of Canada, but nowhere have I ever seen cheddar cheese in place of cheese curds in my French fry and gravy comfort food concoction. If it were a fun twist on a classic Canadian favorite that'd be one thing, but it was just odd and off putting. But again – it's the only place to grab a bite and a drink before boarding your flight, so kick rocks if you don't like it.

The service was also a bit weird. Friendly, but aloof and slow for an airport bar. They've gotta be aware that most people have tight deadlines, so perhaps a little pep in their step would improve the experience. I had enough time to get to my boarding lane, but any traveler with less time could have missed their flight. Might have been a one off fumble on their part, but it's worth noting.

  2. Ate here before getting on my flight, and I wish I didn't. The burger wasn't that good and extremely disappointing. Service wasn't very good either. I'd rather just have bought a bag of chips or something from the vending machine than eat here!!

  3. Jet Blue/Air Canada end of the terminal, and you're stuck once you get through security with minimal food options (an Au Bon Pain is your only other sit-down option, sandwich/salads prepackaged, a pretzel place, and one other small option). Really hungry and with time to kill, I liked a few of the menu options here. First, service was attentive, cheerful, and prompt–and it was easy to get my water refilled 2X (yay!). Second, I ordered the veggie blackbean burger–nicely seasoned (cumin!) and crisp on the outside, with a corn/black bean/avocado chopped salsa on top, a good piece of very fresh lettuce and slice of tomato. Came w/crinkle fries, which I'd usually avoid, but these were crisp on the outside of every crinkle and I ate every one. I can't speak to other items, but they also have a decent range of beers on tap beyond the usual. It was not too busy aro 11:30am, but started to fill up closer to noon, but there's a good bit of space. One of the best airport meals I've had in the last several years. Burgers do run aro $15+, so it's not cheap, and my pint of Brooklyn IPA was $8.50–the veggie burger is kind of a deal at $12. Happy I treated myself.

  4. I would give this 0 stars if I could. I went in to find a table at about 5.30pm on a Monday and it was a hot mess, despite not being crazy busy (about 4 empty tables). There was no one to ask, so I went to the bar and had a look at the menu above it. After waiting about 5 mins, a waiter came over and told me to wait outside. I did so, and was then taken to a dirty table about another 5 mins later. He handed me a menu and walked off. I waited 10 mins for someone to come take my order, and ended up having to flag him down. Ordered, then waited. And waited. I started getting concerned when 20 mins after placing my order, I hadn't yet seen my waiter (as by then, I only had 15 mins until boarding), or been asked if I wanted a drink (which I did). I then managed to flag him down to ask if I could get it to take away instead and only got out 'Excuse me..' before he barked out that he would check on my order. He came back a few minutes later and I quickly asked him for the cheque and a takeaway box before he could disappear again.
Then I realised that both my fries and burger were cold. Great. I tried to flag down my waiter again, but no luck, and I ended up just leaving my food and walking out as boarding had started for my flight. I ended up stopping at one of the little shops and grabbing some snacks instead of dinner.

  5. It was probably the worst service I've ever had. I just wanted one glass of wine, not even food, and I got stuck there for over an hour.
The waiter flat out did not know what he was doing. After he delivered my drink, he never returned to the table. The hostess could not help me even though I asked multiple times. Avoid this place unless you've got 2 hours to spare before a flight!

  6. DESERVES NEGATIVE STARS.

    Worst place imaginable.

There was nothing else to choose from at LaGuardia Airport so decided to go to Metro Burger Bar. It's a Burger place, what can go wrong – almost everything.

I guess since it's still considered "fast-food" that the service was shit. They didn't really care about us once we  sat down. Came back in 5-10 minutes to see our order and waitress seemed like she hated her job. She mumbled her responses and was rude when we  asked questions.

We ordered the Metro burger and chicken sandwich. Mistakes has been made. The Metro burger bun was cold, the burger itself was meh. The chicken burger… the chicken was the size of 3 fingers and it was so stiff I couldn't chew it. The fries was okay but honestly, if they messed up fries, this deserves a million face palm.

I went up to pay and the lady didn't even say anything or ask anything. She just took her sweet time to stand there and punch in other people's order while I stand there. She didn't say anything, placed the  receipt on the table and went on her way.

    This restaurant was just sad.

  7. Really bland burger… would rather eat airplane food. Eat anywhere else, except for here! The service is pretty bad too, it wasn't even that busy and it was still hard to get the server's attention.

  8. The only real restaurant in this section of LGA. So not much choice in the jet blue / air Canada section. Decent burger.  I ordered the Mexican burger.  It was good but not fantastic.  I wish they added more guacamole to it. Especially at $14 a burger.  They only added a small smear. The waiter was really nice and my food was ready pretty fast
