  1. I was walking by there early this evening and couldn't resist getting some food from the hot & cold food bar, and their "A" rating from the Health Department sealed the deal.  Some of the hot food had already been removed (or, perhaps, not replenished), but the selection was still decent and it all looked sufficiently appealing.  It was very pricey, but that's undoubtedly due to the location….the young female cashier was pleasant initially.  I told her I wanted some water and naturally she assumed I meant *bottled* water, so then I told her I wanted *tap* water.

Cashier:  "We don't have tap water".
Me:  "Then how do you wash your hands?"
Cashier (pointing to a small sink right behind her):  "There".
Me:  "Fine; that's tap water and I'd like a cup of it".
Cashier:  "I'd have to charge you 25 cents for the cup".
Me:  "I'm spending more than *$11* on food and you want to charge me for the *cup*?!"

When no response was forthcoming, I told her she could keep the food and I walked out.

  2. Lots to choose from at Marche Madison: Deli section, salad bar, pasta bar, sushi bar, etc.  I find everything to be reasonably priced as well and the service is quick.  I don't typically eat there, I usually grab my food and go.

  3. Any type of food you could ever want. Very easy to eat healthy.

A little pricey (as in, my bottle of kombucha was $6!!) But the food is worth it.

  4. This place is pretty average. I went here for a quick work lunch and wanted to try something new. I had the chicken teriyaki bowl and it was too sweet and overlooked. The rest of the food in the area looked pretty average, nothing called out to me as exceptionally amazing looking. The selection is pretty similar to what else is around the area.

  5. Lapin and I came here for lunch when the Hale and Hearty next door didn't have any seating available. The deli has a wide array of food available and a decent selection. It has food by the pound, sushi, sandwiches, pasta and hot/cold sandwiches. Lapin got sushi roll and gyoza and I had gotten a sandwich which cost us around $27. The food wasn't that great and didn't taste fresh but  tasted like it was prepared earlier in the day or from the day before. The quality and the taste doesn't want the high prices.

  6. Good deli right by the Courtyard Marriott!  We had some good sandwiches & they also have almond milk coffee drinks in the fridge.  I had a wrap with turkey & vegetables & apples it was fresh & tasty.
They have reasonable prices for bottled water too. They are open early & late so it is very convenient.

  7. They have a lot to offer: a deli, sushi station, bakery section, make-your-own pasta bar, make-your-own salad bar, as well as a variety of hot food items like burgers, paninis, and pizza. Perhaps it was my own fault that I had created possibly the strangest salad to date (consisting of feta cheese, olives, eggs, alfafa sprouts, black beans, and oil+vinegar) , but everything else that we had purchased was also a disappointment. My dad's burger was pre-made and was still cold in the center. My sushi was physically difficult to ingest; it was like I was eating a series of cold, teeny, faintly-sweet pebbles with slippery pieces of watery avocado wedged in between. My lox and cream cheese bagel (yes, this was all in one sitting) was alright… But come on! This is NYC. I've had better.
One benefit is that it's open 24 hours and is right next to our hotel, the Marriott East Side. The weather is pretty brutal in the winter and we really didn't feel like walking too much, but we still ended up going a couple of blocks down to get bfast instead of coming here. Says something.

  8. Open all the time deli-market that features hot overly-cheesy paninis (I had the Italiano Pesto, good but gooey) coffees, beers, muffins, pastries, black & white cookies, general go-to for processed fats and sugars. More American than French, in fact, don't get the French Toast for they don't know what they're doing. Nevertheless, it lit me up one late night when I was tired and I knew there was worse out there. #lastrites
