Okay. So this place serves what it says in its name: Tonkatsu.
My friend and I went by last evening: NO ONE IN THE RESTAURANT. It was kind of eerie, to be honest. We went in still, since all these reviews were raving about it. We both order the pork katsu. It was good, but not $15 good. It had what it said it did: tonkatsu, rice, curry, and a bit of pickled vegetables.
Honestly people, you can easily cook this at home.
When we left, there was probably one other dude that was with us in the restaurant. We walked by an hour later – still no one in the restaurant.
HUGELY disappointed by tonkatsuya considering it's newly opened restaurant here. It was so pricey. The plates were too big for it to taste that good because all I felt was overstuffed. Curry had a more peppery taste to it rather than a sweet mellow aroma. Nothing special about the katsu. It's sad that I spent so much money on this plate when I couldnt' finish their mountain of rice that they pile on. Maybe control the portions a bit and lower the price. Make it more worthwhile.
