Fresh Tacos
“It's a little odd that this Tex-Mex place is owned and operated by Asians and looks like a Chinese restaurant, but the food is no joke.”
“Their steak and fries and good but a bit dry and quesadillas are okay too.”
“The dinner-size burrito is huge and open-face, and the tortilla is thick and almost pita-like.”

This is my all time favorite Mexican spot!! But it's more tex mex. Service is so friendly and fast. The portions are huge. They make homemade tortillas so they are hot and delicious. The best I've ever had. I usually get an extra tortilla just to eat on the side. They also have this hot sauce that is thick and chunky and makes everything taste amazing. If you're in Sunnyside, this is a cheap quality spot you need to check out. I've been going for about 4 years now. Even though I now live on the Upper East Side, this is about a once every 2 months trip that I need to make!
I think this place is owned and operated by Chinese owners but cranks out the usual Mexican food options. I used to have a place a lot like this where I grew up, it's cool to see their take on Mexican food. Almost like a Taco Bell without the "retail chain" vibe to it. You get some unique versions of the Mexican classics this way.
The place is definitely no frills and has very limited window seating and a menu that resembles more of a Chinese take-out menu. The prices are reasonable and the portions are fairly sized. The meat almost resembles Char Siu or Chinese roast pork in a way.
In the end, regardless of what it is or isn't, the food is actually pretty delicious. The avocado salad with chicken (was supposed to be steak) is definitely a deal at $6.59 and the chicken quesadilla is a steal at $3.79. I wish they gave you some sour cream or guacamole on the side though. Just make sure you ask for what you want, don't expect the usual condiments to come standard. I'd probably go for quesadillas and tacos next time over anything else.
