  1. I've lived in New York all my life and I have to say this is truly one of the best experiences I've had out. I happened to be charmed by the place earlier that day so my husband and I said we'd go that evening for drinks. The wine list was superb, exotic and interesting and the decor was absolutely perfect, authentic italian, no fuss and contrivances, everything was as authentic as I remember when I lived in Italy. We ordered several wonderful wines and food that paired brilliantly, overall it was marvelous, everything you dream a New York bar to be. I felt like I was transported back to Italy for magicial evening full of taste and flavor. The owner Adrea is incredible and makes the experience extra special, he's warm and knowledgeable, everything you could ask for. I'm typically hard to please and I have to say this was an A+ experience.

  2. I came out to this place yesterday with a small group of friends and fellow wine lovers because we had heard about their impressive natural wine list.  This place is fairly new so this review should be taken with a grain of salt.  I am sure they will undoubtedly make adjustments as the place matures.  The ambiance is wonderful.  The wine list is truly fantastic.  The staff was very nice.

Here are the issues I had:

-I was interested in tasting from their orange wine list (orange or ramato wines) are less well known and this place has the largest selection I have found.  The server had me try 3 different wines and I settled on the last one, it was really great.  One of my friends also got a glass of it.  What we were not told was that wine was $25 PER GLASS!  Not per bottle, per glass.  While I have no issue with a venue charging that amount for a glass of wine, it is certainly well beyond the $8-$15 one would expect to pay for a glass of wine and the server should at least notify us of the cost.

-We ordered a number of bottles of wines but the menu was difficult to read and it was not immediately clear how much each bottle was that we were purchasing.

-the same was true for the food menu:  we were placing food item orders and the server suggested that they would bring us a number of items and mix it up a bit but it was very unclear how much we would be paying for the items.  I just find this off-putting.  Be up front with your pricing.

-They need to pay attention to their music/playlist.  We heard the same 10 songs at least 4 times each, we all knew what song was coming next by the end of the evening.  If people are coming here and paying a premium for good wines, you should pay attention to all aspects of the ambiance.  Just find a good spotify playlist that lasts a few hours before cycling to the beginning.

-Their wine storage made me a little concerned.  They have a great selection of natural wines but they are storing them right on the wall shelves, not in temperature controlled wine coolers.  It's a bit of a shame to take the hard work of the natural wine makers and take the chance of changing the taste or ruining the wine by not keeping it at the proper temperature especially natural wine that is harder to make than conventional wine.  It just shows a lack of respect for the wine makers.

These sound like many issues but they are all not deal breakers for me.  Their selection of wine is great and I would go back.

  3. Great spot to grab a drink in Williamsburg. There is a menu outside the bar that does not match the one inside with a different name on it, which confused me a bit, but this is the spot! Just match the address to the place. What really interested me was the Coffee Old Fashioned which is with Cold Brew! Who would not want to try it?

They also have freshly cut prosciutto that is sliced right at the bar. There are wine bottles everywhere as part of their decor. If you would like to try something not on the menu, don't be afraid to tell the bartender what kind of spirit(s) you like and whether you want it fruity, strong, etc.

  4. Italian Speakeasy.  Cant get much better than that.

This new spot has Italian wine, crafted cocktails and draft beer and great bites like yummy charcuterie plates, olives, fresh crostini, and so much more.

This "chatteria" meaning casual dinnertime chatter, is the perfect setting for just that.  The vibe is awesome and has a wonderful atmosphere. The decor has an old timey feel with a side of modern- which includes a taxidermy boars head and wine bottle covered walls.

Definitely a great spot for small happy hour or a nice cozy date.

  5. Fantastic place. Apparently we only choose the best places in NY to eat at. We came here right before we walked over to the TriBeCa Film Festival. We got several of the whiskey cocktails (all are delicious and very strong), the burrata and a dozen oysters on the half shell. The flavors and quality of the food were fantastic and the service was good. It's a bit pricey and the place is always packed but the food and drinks were superb! We will be back.

  6. Ok, there was nothing between 3 stars and 4 stars, so I picked 3 just because I think there are too many 5 on this place.

I went there twice in the last days, and for dinner today. I had a great time, don't get me wrong,  a very good evening.

Here are a few things why not 5 stars:
    – why do you put any food on top of big slices of bread? Even the angus steak was served on top of bread slices. Really, this is just not working! The artichoke was also there, on the big slice of bread, same for the octopus, I don't know what is the motivation, but clearly, the two little artichoke hearts were accompanied with too much bread to make us feel good. Even if it would look like not a lot of food, it would be better without the bread under the food. Or just put more of the food and less of the bread…
    – all those bottles on the walls can't prevent me from thinking those might be the bottles I'll drink. But I don't want to drink bottles that are stored at room temperature, vertically… especially not if it's quite natural wine… please keep your walls for empty bottles and store full bottles in a cellar…
    – uh, oh, some of the wine goes way to high on the price list.
    – If one of the guy tells you he is vegetarian, don't bring his cheese/vegies on a plate where it touches the meat… no vegetarian would be happy about that…

That's all, I hope it helps, I'll come back for sure but I just wanted to share my few issues with the place. It's surely a great addition to the neighborhood even with those small minuses.

  7. I've been to Have & Meyer a few times now and really enjoy it. As the new kid on the block, it is definitely a welcome addition to the neighborhood.  They have an excellent selection of drinks and wines, including a draft Negroni, which is pretty awesome. If you're hungry they offer some light bites and Italian small plates to nibble on. The service is outstanding and the bartenders are very skilled and friendly, which I appreciate.

It is a small place that is beautifully decorated with a nice atmosphere. I would recommend coming with smaller groups or for a date.

  8. Jersey girl and husband stumbled upon this little gem of a wine bar in Williamsburg on a Sunday evening.
    So happy we did.

Beautiful space, all Italian wines by the glass and bottle.
Fantastic antipasti (bread w/ butter and anchovies!!!! and salumi platter the best!).
Loved Federika and Daniele.   Such nice people.
Wish Brooklyn were closer, we would be here every week.
