Barilla Restaurants

“A bit of a sleeper place near Bryant Park for a quick bite to eat but healthy and filling.”

“Linguini was done perfectly al dente but just a tinge bit little in quantity- it almost seemed like there were more calamaris and shrimps than noodles!”

“So you order at the register and they give you a numbered card and they bring the food to your table.”

  1. All of the food is great! Pizza is my favorite here tho. Comes out fast and the portions are good size. Also open late so have been for lunch as well as after a late night of work. Great spot for fast Italian food!

  2. Stopped by for dinner –
Great open atmosphere and floor plan with large communal table in middle. Though it was 9pm, place was bustling with people. Ordered Linguini Vesuvius and initially I worried that the capers and green Spanish olives would be too overpowering, but when the dish came, I was pleasantly surprised by the abundance of calamari and shrimp, which the olives did great job balancing out. Yum!
Linguini was done perfectly al dente but just a tinge bit little in quantity- it almost seemed like there were more calamaris and shrimps than noodles! Place seems to also offer variety of wine and beers, something to try next time.

I'm an Italian fanatic and I'm so glad to have found a low-cost (well, compared to sitting in restaurants like Carmine's) that I can hop in by myself for quick and delish meal! I'll be back!

  3. Cold Lasagna! Ugh!
    STAY AWAY. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

I had such high hopes for this place, and while I enjoyed the service and decor I was disappointed by the lackluster food the last time I visited. I came back today (tempted by Broadway in Bryant park across the street) and things got worse. Much worse. I ordered the Lasagna and it was cold in the middle. I can't be sure, but it seems as if it was cooked well in advance and then microwaved, but for not nearly long enough.

If I hadn't gotten take out I would have taken it back. It was that bad. The only good thing I can say was this it was a very large piece of Lasagna. A large, bland, cold in the center piece.

Also, although management asked me to email them in response to my last post, then never emailed me back.

  4. This is not Italy, but a nice small portion of al dente pasta, and a nice thin crust wood oven pizza is always a joy.  Add to that some San Pellegrino and you have a nice addition to Bryant Park.  You have wonderful ingredients, all you need is a really outstanding chef to make this place shine!  It would not be that difficult!

  5. I really like this place. It's not an obvious choice for Italian, being inspired by a mainstream pasta company but I was really impressed with the bolognese. It was freshy, tangy, and incredibly tasty. The fast casual set-up was easy to navigate and my wait time was minimal. If you're looking for good fast casual Italian cuisine, you should give it a try.

  6. Very average like the overall stars level. Went in to take a vegetarian sandwich before going out to eat in Bryant Park just in front. Price and tastes are OK. Service is rather nice though and they have a menu which have information for veggie and all.

  7. It's definitely fast food, I'm not a huge fan of this. The food is mediocre, but it's nice to order food and have it come to the table super quick! Probably won't come back though. The pesto pasta was pretty bland and not that appetizing.

  8. First time visiting Barilla.   I just wanted a salad, and my sister recommended this place.

They had a fair amount of seating, but was very busy.  They have communal seats in the center and then tables all around.  I suggest grabbing table as soon as you get there.  You order at the register, they give you a number to put on your table and a waiter delivers it to you.  They had a decent selection of salads.  I ordered the Portopollo salad.

It took a little while for our salads to come.  Not too long, but not really too quick either (but again, they were busy).  My salad was BIG and really really good! I kept seeing panini's and other pastas that came out that looked equally delicious.   I would definitely come back!
