New chicken stop in the area, and open for brunch! Was pretty pumped on a Saturday morning, so headed over around opening time to try some of that pulled chicken.
Looking at the menu, no rotisserie for brunch, which was fine, so ordered something with pulled chicken and they say it's not available yet. Disappointing, since you know…it's a chicken joint. Instead settled on the LBC Croque Madame ($10) and a latte ($3.50). Latte came out first, and is nicely balanced – didn't have to add sugar or anything. The meal portion took much longer, about 25 minutes for the food to come out (they need more than one cook). Portion is pretty good and the ingredients are dense. The meal is served on top of wax paper, which is a bad idea since it rips apart while I'm cutting up the sandwich (fairly certain I ate some of the paper). Otherwise the meal is solid and the potatoes that come with are seasoned very well.
A nice and inviting restaurant, though they need to make a few tweaks. Really want to try that chicken.
Really enjoying this new rotisserie chicken spot in Hell's Kitchen. I have had both take out and dined in. I thought the take out was delicious, and packaged nicely so the food stayed hot and crisp. But eating at the restaurant is even better!! The chicken is made to order so comes out hot and delicious, served on a cool wooden platter. Great presentation. Fresh, Healthy sides. Love the sauce options too. Friendly service and the right price!! They even serve pretty good espresso. A great addition to the neighborhood!!
This place is the bomb when you're craving quality rotisserie chicken. It's surprisingly empty most of the time, but I would recommend sitting down for the new, it's fun. They have crayons and let you draw on your table paper (although the drawing stops when the food arrives at the table, obviously).
The chicken is super juicy and the meat falls off the bones without even trying! Seasoned so well, and not too fatty. As for the sides, the Mac and cheese is recommended but the butternut squash is a must! Collard greens could've been cooked a little more, it was a bit chewy.
Anyhow, this place is a great find!
I had seen this restaurant periodically in passing but either had just eaten or meeting friends for dinner or lunch. This time I was ready to eat lunch before meeting friends for a walking tour. The menu is divided into soup and salads, rotisserie, sandwiches which they can make on gluten free bread and various sides. The soups all looked good but the French onion soup had the most appeal that day since it was still a little cold out. I also got a sandwich [the Cote du Rhone] which consisted of a piece of rotisserie chicken on a brioche with espresso BBQ sauce, coleslaw and gruyere cheese-it was delicious. My sandwich came first and the soup followed-I would rather have had the soup and sandwich come together or the soup and then the sandwich but it was not really a big deal. The sides you can get are varied; cornbread, mac and cheese, french fries, etc.I was under the impression this was take out only but it is a sit down restaurant. The meal was very good, the waitress very personable and I would recommend and return.
My boyfriend's roommate had gone to Le Bon Choix the evening before and had raved to us about how good it was, so good he was completely willing to go back the next day. We went as a (tipsy) group of four and when we arrived we were the only ones there. This changed over the course of the meal and a good half dozen people wound up being in the restaurant by the time we left. We were quickly seated and I could barely contain my excitement over the fact that we could color on our tablecloth. Two of the boys got sandwiches, one with mashed potatoes as a side and the other butternut squash. My boyfriend and I decided to get the full rotisserie chicken to share, seemed like the best deal for the both of us as it came with cornbread and a side each. He got the mashed potatoes with chasseur sauce. I got mac n cheese with the blanc bbq sauce.
The first 15 minutes of our wait were fun, we were coloring and chatting and enjoying our drunkness, but then the hunger set in. We wound up drooling and staring at our food being made for a solid 40 minutes. I understand it takes some time to cook up entire chickens, but THAT long? By the time we got our food I was so famished that I (nearly) didn't bother taking the time to take any photos.
I immediately noticed that our sides weren't warm, I guess they'd been plated much earlier than the rest of our dishes. Each side was rather flavorless as well, my own mac n cheese wasn't very cheesy, basically yellow noodles. The chicken was very moist, incredibly well cooked, but again, lacking flavor. That salt shaker and I were quickly becoming very good friends. I think the best dish I tasted was my friend's sandwich, it had pulled chicken in it or something? Nice and flavorful, but maybe a bit too pulled? The chicken kept falling out of it. As for the sauces, I liked NONE of them. The only palatable one was my boyfriend's. One of our friends had gotten the ginger peanut, which was VERY ginger-y. My own blanc bbq sauce kind of taste like coleslaw, but with an absurd amount of vinegar and no veggies. The cornbread was pretty ordinary, but I did wind up finishing mine.
I think the fact that we arrived not long before closing may have had something to do with the average-ness of our meals but I can safely say I would recommend Le Bon Choix and I would probably visit again. What I had was definitely filling and totally worth the $15+tip, plus the service was just stellar.
I'll come right out and say that I don't care for rotisserie chicken in general, but Le Bon Choix still made me a steady customer via the rest of the menu. So, even if you don't eat rotisserie but all your friends want to come here anyway, your salivary glands will still be taken care of.
My favorite is probably the Cote Du Rhone sandwich, which includes rotisserie chicken slathered in their deliciously-finger-licking espresso BBQ sauce, topped with coleslaw (thank you for not making it nauseously creamy) & Gruyere, between perfectly toasted brioche buns. Regardless of the sandwich you get, make sure to get them "bocose style," in which they will throw a fried egg and crispy chicken skin into the mix. Because let's be honest, crispy chicken skin and fried egg are just great additions to anything and everything.
Otherwise, their salads, soups, and sandwiches (remember – bocose style it!) are also surprisingly good for a place that specializes in rotisserie chicken.
When I did try their chicken, I have to say their outstanding sauces are what makes this rotisserie better than others. Seriously, can I get a bottle of that outstanding espresso BBQ sauce or peanut ginger sauce to go? They taste great with everything.
But, if you're not hungry, you can always come here to grab something from their coffee bar and bask in their French-country-inspired decor and ambiance. Maybe doodle something on the butcher paper covering the tables with the provided crayons and get creative.
All in all, a great little nook on 10th Ave to visit.
Yummy yum yum!! My husband and I were walking by this newish Parisian styled rotisserie chicken joint and thought oh, French onion soup. As such we decided to check it out. What we later found (as we did get it to go), is while the coleslaw is not creamy as it states it is, it is extremely tasty. Additionally I highly recommend both the blanc and the espresso BbQ sauces; they really add a blast of flavor. When we got home I went right for the au gratin potatoes and the other half for the French onion soup. I have to note, from a culinary perspective the use of star anise being interwoven exquisitely into the effervescent flavors was perfection. For a moment I forgot it was rotisserie chicken we were eating … What a delightful experience and some quite tasty food. It's reasonable so I am thinking once a week for this family. Maybe post gym. Thanks for reading and enjoy.
