  1. I liked the variety of flavors they offered . I tried the sour sop and the cheese cake. Went out of my way because I'm a big fan of soursop for its cancer fighting properties. I wasn't too impressed though. Both flavors  were way too sugary and not too savory which is what I look for in ice-cream. Nothing I should have travelled all the way to Jersey for atleast.

  2. I came here for dessert after eating at Talde.  This place has a great selection of original/special ice cream and sorbet.  This definitely a spot to go to when summer comes around.  I do not recall what I order, but I remember it was delicious and it made me want to go back in the summer when it is warmer out.

  3. I've been going to this ice cream shop for several years, and they turn out some very fine ice cream! Since their renovation 6 or 7 years ago, they've been featured on the Food Network, the New York Times, and in several magazine and blog articles. However, with this newfound attention, prices have slowly risen. Yet, I'd still gladly line up with the albeit larger crowd of ice cream aficionados (because the more accurate "ice cream addict" sounds rather gauche! Lol!).

This shop carries a whole slew of flavors ranging from the classic neapolitan variety – vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry – to the exotic – like ube, lychee, and may (which reflects the neighborhood's decades earlier influx of Filipino and Hispanic residents in the downtown area during the 70's and 80's). I wish I could say I had a favorite flavor. Maybe if I did, I wouldn't always be standing in that line second guessing what my order is. "Blueberry cheesecake or banana? No no no, definitely coffee and cookies! Oh wait, they have avocado!" It used to be so much easier years before when they allowed two flavors in their small cups/cones! Alas, they only allow ONE flavor now. I mourn the days when I didn't have to commit to just the one flavor. (Tip: Definitely don't be shy about asking to sample more than one flavor! My bro-in-law didn't like his pistachio ice cream, and they happily let him get something else. However, it could have been avoided if he had sampled it first.)

The ice cream itself is rich and creamy with no ice crystallization and absolutely no gumminess. Their ice cream always tastes freshly made and full of flavor.

Additionally, their waffle cones are all made on site. If you're lucky, you'll be greeted to the scent of freshly made waffle cones. They also make some stellar milkshakes! They freeze their gallons of whole milk so every shake is ice cold and oh so thick and creamy. If their "hard" ice cream isn't your thing, they also sell sorbets in a variety of flavors and an even larger selection of soft serve flavors. Like a shockingly large amount of soft serve flavors!

Limited seating is available indoors, but the turnover is pretty quick most of the time. There's also usually a few tables and benches located outside, which is perfect for warmer days. If you decide to bike over and forget your lock, they also have a walk up window where you can place your order. How perfect is that? (Nothing like a stolen bike to spoil your appetite!)

They usually have a line, especially in the summer, but consider it a small gift because not only does that line give you extra time to peruse the flavor selection, it means they no longer have to close down during the winter months. With their increased popularity, they can now stay open during those bleak winter days. I'm glad to know I'm not the only aficionado who enjoys eating ice cream in the middle of January!

  4. Great ice cream, tons of flavors, waffles cones and long lines that move quickly…. Hmmmm Torico's is where it's at for Ice Cream in Jersey City for me. Im no ice cream guru, but all flavors i've had thus far were very good! I normally go for the ice cream, but they also have soft serve and gelato. My to go flavors Poundcake, Coffee cookie and Pistachio.

Torico's is off the beaten path a lil bit. Its close to barcade and across the street from burger eatery. The decor is fun and bright with limited indoor and outdoor seating. The service is awesome. The staff is extremely helpful and you can pretty much sample as much flavors as you please. Parking can be iffy, but common folks it Jersey City and thats a given.

Anywho…. enough rambling. I'll most def be back and I hope you enjoy you experience as well.

  5. Torico is adorable inside and out and has deliciously rich flavors of ice cream (both soft and hard). My boyfriend and I usually make a special trip from Hoboken just to get ice cream here and it is worth it every time!

  6. Love this place! Upon passing through the door, we were welcome by the rich smell of freshly made waffle cone. There were so many flavors of ice-cream and sorbet, we tried tons of them before choosing mango sorbet and coffee ice-cream (I know, it's so random). Both of them were absolutely amazing. I find things here a little bit on pricey side, so probably wont come back here regularly but saving it for special occasions.

  7. This is one of my favorite cream shops, for their vast variety of flavors.  Been here several times throughout the years and by far my favorite flavors are coconut sherbet, coconut joy, pineapple coconut and ginger ice creams on a waffle cone, these are so delicious.  I'm interested in trying the upside down banana boat but i'll need a few people to help me out with that one.  If you're in the area and have a sweet tooth, definitely stop by for a creamy flavorful snack.

  8. Anyone that knows me will always say that I know good ice cream when I have it. I grew up with having at least 3 gallons in the freezer at all times. This cute little place was a great find for me.
There was a line out the door but it went pretty fast. I had to go with the coconut cream with almonds and I was licking my cup afterwards. The consistency was creamy and not too sweet, just as it should be. I will be returning a few time this summer.
