This place is awesome. An authentic selection of brazilian starches, veggies and grilled meats. Their tri tip was a little underseasoned but I really loved the pork sausage, that was delicious as it is. Also I loved the chayote salad, cauliflower gratin, and rice with gravy. My plate was just a hair over $11 and was perfect in size for me. Good deal considering I can choose exactly what I want, and for the weight I probably could have gotten a little more meat and still paid the same per pound price (they penalize you if they judge your plate to have way too much meat and too little other stuff.) Nice to have in the hood, sooooo many choices!!
A Brazilian restaurant is a great addition to Jackson Heights. The place is cleaner than most of the other Latin restaurants in this area, and the staff is very nice and helpful. We only had food from the 5.99/lb basic buffet (mostly fish, vegetables and staple food), yet everything was fresh and delicious.
This relatively new pay-by-pound spot is similar to those in Astoria offering grilled meats and an area with steam table fare and salads. The short rib was the best of the meats. The chicken with bacon was very flavorful and juicy too.
One inexplicable disappointment was the top sirloin, which just seemed like low-quality meat with a gritty flavor. On the other hand, the salads were better than expected – a green one (kale?) and a bean salad. I enjoyed the bottled cashew drink.
Service was good and buffet bar was pretty clean but the selection was fairly limited and the grilled meats were overcooked. I tried the lamb which I asked for medium rare but it was cut well done. The skirt steak was closer to medium but it was ok. The cheese bread and salmon was pretty good but the rest of the items were average. They also charge you by the pound and my plate was around $10 which was not bad.
Its so nice to have a Brazilian restaurant on Roosevelt ave. It's very clean (which sometimes is hard to find in the area) If you are a meat lover you will love this place, top sirloin and skirt steak are delicious and full of flavor. The buffet items were ok, I wasn't overly impressed. There's your standard plantains, rice, chicken, plantains, kale, steamed veggies, etc. The cashier is very friendly and prices are reasonable.
Ooooh, a food by the pound in Jackson Heights. So this place is more like a 3.5 but room for a lot of potential especially since they are new. Everything felt greasy but the seasoning was great, I did have an issue with some of the white rice being crunchy. It was also kinda surprising that most of the meats came off a tad sweet.
The food:
Short ribs- Was so tender and good, it was a tad sweet but and on the greasy side but still so good.
Spicy sausage- I really liked the chorizo, it had a great snap and flavor
Oxtail- Automatically really good
Salmon- The salmon was overcooked but had nice flavor, it had a nice sweet and sour flavor .
Skirt steak- It was over done and chewy.
Tomato and Cucumber salad- This was great, it was super refreshing, it kinda felt like a Greek salad without the feta.
Finally a Brazilian spot in Jackson Heights!
This place is a block away from 74thst Roosevelt Avenue train station. Their staff is very welcoming and are very knowledgeable about the food they service. Its weighed so be mindful how much you pile on with bone meats. Beyond that, I would definitely try their potato salad, chopped kale salad, and most definitely their BBQ (it varies everyday on their buffet table, but they have a consistent list of meats by their kitchen area).
Feast on and pile on!
