The Nugget Spot
“If it's your first time, you can't go wrong with the Southern Belle nuggets with Crunk Sauce.”
“standouts were definitely the buffalo dipped in OG ranch, the twister dipped in honey mustard, and the cheez louise dipped in ranch.”
“The fries were unexpectedly delish and addicting- thin cuts, mix of crispy and soggy (oil drenched?)”

Cute little place with an eclectic interior design. Counter service, with limited seating (all stools). The serve a nice variety of chicken nuggets, with different coatings (cereal, cheese, sriracha, etc) and sauces (crunk, Tswag, BBQ, etc). Nuggets are a bit small, so there's more coating and less chicken than you might get elsewhere. They also offer a variety of sides, mostly southern inspired (biscuits, greens, coleslaw). The nuggets are pretty good (especially the sriracha) but not amazing, but overall it's a nice place to grab a quick lunch.
Needed something to satiate my appetite before heading to a plethora of drinking. Nugget spot was surprisingly empty, so figured it'd be a quick in and out with decent food.
Ordered the Sriracha Nugs ($7) with the special Shhh Sauce and a drink ($3). Nugs took longer than I thought to come out since the chef seemed to forget my order existed. Girl behind the counter was friendly and sorry about the mix-up though, so not going to hold it against them. Nuggets are fairly large with a solid amount of meat on them (probably the same amount in one nug as a regular chicken wing with bone). Sauce is excellent – not sure what's in it, but balanced out the Sriracha rub they topped on the meat.
Considering I was completely sober having this food, they did pretty well. Wouldn't make a special trip for it, but really hits the spot.
Take my 5 star rating with a grain of salt since I was tipsy when I came here, and everyone knows food tastes infinitely better when inebriated. 😉 That being said, I really liked this place! I got 6 pieces of the Sriracha Nuggs and used my Yelp check-in coupon to get a CSB nugget too! Sriracha nuggs were bomb, and actually spicy unlike so many other sriracha flavored items out there. 6 pieces doesn't sound like a lot but the nuggets are pretty filling. The dessert CSB nugget was amaaazzziinnnggg and I will definitely be getting a full order of these next time. This meal really hit the spot after a night of drinking but it's so good I recommend it any other time, too 🙂 I'd love to come back and try all the other different flavors they have!
Yes, there are items with names like Popo, Cap'N'Crunk and the 4/20 combo (thankfully, no Hella Noms.) This is a millennial-focused joint that just might pleasantly surprise the nugget-eater who has only been to McDonald's.
The Southern Belle seems like the right baseline pick for a first-timer, similar to but better than the classic fast-food versions. In retrospect I should have gotten a more interesting sauce than barbecue. The Buffalo nuggets were decent but I'd rather have wings.
I can't say why I got greens (guilt?) but the Dijon Vinaigrette dressing was pretty good.
I mean, these places that pop up with their specialties of nuggets, fries, waffle wedges, baked potatoes, etc….they have their place in today's ADHD-economy. They're usually small, overpriced, nickel-and-dime you for every condiment, and you can usually do better by making their product at home. The Nugget Spot is another in that kind of lineage.
The Nugget Spot deserves, in my mind, an A-OK rating…it serves the purpose when you want something basic, chicken nuggets in this circumstance, and want to see how a place might dress them up in some unique way. The price isn't horrible, for NYC standards.
I once made a special walking trip for this place, from the other end of Manhattan, going out of my way. I wouldn't go out of my way again for this, but it was worthwhile at the time for a change.
we only stopped here to cash in a lottery ticket at the small "grocery" store next door and decided to give this place a try. we arrived just as they were opening so we were the only customers there. the space was small but not tiny. love the exposed brick walls. we were greeted by two young ladies working the counter. they were friendly enough. the menu is small. but interesting. I decided to try the cap'n crunk nugget combo which consisted of chicken nuggets with a cap'n crunch coating, a side of fries (I chose cajun seasoned), a drink and coleslaw.
food was served on these little baking style metal trays which I thought was cool. they have a nice selection of dipping sauces which included buffalo, ranch, a secret sauce and some others. first thing I noticed as how dark the nuggets were. they were definitely fried too hard/long. I think they were just a tad bit overcooked bcuz they were not very moist or juicy. the cap'n crunch coating gave them a very slight sweet flavor. I tried three of the sauces .. buffalo, the secret sauce and the honey mustard. they were all good. the fries were cooked to perfection with some type of cajun seasoning sprinkled on. they were good. the coleslaw was a real winner. huge serving and it was very fresh, crunchy and flavorful. overall I was pleased with the meal. I just wish the chicken wasn't fried so hard and had retained some juiciness. this restaurant has the potential to be a really cool spot but they need to tweak things a bit. I'll def be going back to try something different in the near future.
We ordered the Southern Belle chicken nuggets and CSB's via UberEats tonight. The food arrived timely. The BBQ sauce that came with the chicken nuggets was good; however, the chicken nuggets were not good at all. They were tough and chewy, not crispy and flaky. They almost tasted like those microwaveable nuggets that you could find at the supermarkets. The seasoning was also bland. The CSB's were nothing special but a hybrid between a zeppoli and fried cookie dough with a hint of cinnamon – which made the whole thing tasted like cinnamon bun (but fried). I would not name this the "spot" to get chicken nuggets.
This spot is a delight!! We rolled in at about 1am because we all oddly had a craving for chicken nuggets after being out, so The Nugget Spot was a clear choice.
So this place has nuggets – any way you want then. Any meat, any sauce, anything you want. My first thought was if was a little pricey – however I quickly learned that this is not McDonalds and was worth every penny.
We ordered the chicken Captn Crunk nuggets – has a cereal crust. We ordered these with mambo sauce, which is like sweet and sour, because they were out of the Crunk sauce. Nuggets were very good – hot, tender and crisp.
I overlooked the vegetarian menu, but my friend was smarter and did not and ordered the mozz nuggets. These are essentially little fried mozzarella stick balls of ooey cheese goodness. They are accompanied by some marinara sauce with a kick. YUM!
Anyway come here if you're in the neighborhood any time of day – you're in for a treat!
