  1. I felt like going to the Redhead bar because I dyed  my hair in red lately.  ***Destiny*** in fact it was pouring outside and we were just looking to have a drink anywhere until the rain stopped. The bar just opened so we were the first customers. The woman behind the bar looked like the kind of woman who did that all her life. She was this kind of  " no joke bartender". She knows her beers. I ask for a cocktail ($12.00) . I think it was the redhead fizz. Very refreshing.  Not too sweet. The bartender was talking to a regular so it was a little bit hard to get her attention to pay but it was ok. It is not a bar that blew my mind and it is more a local bar (no concept, no crazy hipster atmosphere) very low key which I enjoyed it  and might come back if I am around the corner looking to have a drink.

  2. If I tell you about the fantastic happy hour at The Redhead, do you promise not to bring your friends and make it really crowded and unmanageable? Because I really dig sitting comfortably at the bar and partaking in some quality $6 cocktails. Don't ruin that for me.

The Redhead also has amazing fried chicken. The thing to do is enjoy your cheapo.cocktails until 7:00 and then grab yourself a take and have some delicious dinner. But let's just keep all this to ourselves, to keep the place cool and.comfortable and wait free.

  3. Location: east village, hyped place for great food. It's between 1st and 2nd Ave. If you take the train, you probably wanna do L train and get off at 1st Ave and take a stroll. Here it is, The redhead is in front you.

It acts like a bar, because they have a regular happy hour every day and a full-bar set.
But it is also serving some great food here.

Food: we were here on Friday night, before their happy hour ends – 7pm.
5 dollar wine and 6 dollar cocktail, they are providing some great sh*t here.

But their food here are also great.
We had chips, we had soft pretzels
    Guess what,
    exceptionally great

Service: is great as well. I was pretty picky on what I want for a good wine but sadly I cannot quitely depict what I want so that they guy kept allowing me to try those wines until I found the one i like.

    Thanks, dude

However, the only down point is that the food are pricy

But it's still worth a visit with some guys n gurs.

    Anyway.
    4 stars

  4. Alright, I guess this might not be such a popular opinion but …..yeah…. I've had better.
I had the cheeseburger with bacon on Monday night for a dear friend's birthday. It really wasn't the BEST I've ever had. It was OK. I don't believe it was $15 + $2 OK, but whatever, it was for her birthday. I do have to say the server was very nice to us and gave us the larger table in the back.
I heard that the house drink "the redhead" it might have been called but do not quote me was good.
Wine was awful. The minute I drank it I regretted my choice. It was a sour red.

  5. ***Mediocre food, Dirty seats***

I'm pretty disappointed by this place. I was expecting some heavy delicious soul food. Instead, my friend and I were met with fried chicken with no sauce and a soupy based shrimp and grits. In addition their onion dip and chips tasted store bought. I wouldn't come back here especially knowing all the other soul food places in the city that have been far more on point.

  6. Stopped by at 6PM on a Friday evening for dinner. We'd made reservations because we were worried that it would be packed. It was not. The crowd here is on the older end of the spectrum – I don't know if it is normally like this or just for dinner, but my friend and I were at a minimum 15 years younger than the youngest person there. We aren't that young..

Unfortunately, the menu was quite sparse, and didn't work out well for my vegetarian friend. I think most people come here for the fried chicken, and I was just not in the mood for more fried chicken after indulging in my share of Popeye's the night before. After much consideration, we decided to just grab drinks here and move on for dinner. Luckily, we arrived in time for their happy hour. $6 specialty cocktails? Yes, please!

I ordered the redhead fizz, which I thought was delicious. It was perfectly sour and fizzy, which is exactly how I like my drinks. I also thought my friend's redhead pimm was great, although I definitely preferred mine over hers.

Service was iffy. The server literally mumbled something about the menu and walked away. I think he was trying to be funny? Not sure. The drinks also took super long to make. By the time my drink got to the table, I was already ready to leave.

I might be back for the fried chicken or the burger in the future, but this would definitely not be my first choice of dinner spots in the East Village area.

  7. Great little spot in the east village with a cool atmosphere, great / friendly staff and excellent food. Went here with a big party and they accommodated us well, even added a table when we showed up with 2 extra.

Had their signature fried chicken which was crispy and juicy and also a side of corn on the cob. Probably could have done without the corn nuts, but overall good. Creamy grits (stolen from across the table) were also amazing. Pasta with peas was a bit bland. And most seemed to enjoy the plentiful cocktail options.

Go for the fried chicken. The rest is gravy. 🙂

  8. Amazing dining experience. Great food and drinks in a pretty chill restaurant.

Chips and dip and provided bread basket with butter were the appetizers. Chips were mixed Terra chips, not bad since I enjoy those chips anyway. The dip was a very nice onion based dip. Really thick and creamy. Would purchase dip if they sold it separately to take home.

Entrees were the cheeseburger with tater tots and the buttermilk fried chicken with salad. Neither were unique in anyway. However both were prepared as well as any great burger or fried chicken would be. The patty was well cooked, excellent bun and most importantly burger held up over the course of the meal. Burgers falling apart has been a recurring theme for me lately due to overly ambitious chefs stacking a ton of items into weak ass buns. Tater tots is always a win, can't go wrong.

Sides included jalapeño corn bread and bacon collard greens. Both were the best items of the night imo. Corn bread was nice and moist with a subtle jalapeño aftertaste. Bacon collard greens should be a staple everywhere. Hard to screw up collard greens (cook till it's mush) then add bacon (single most clutch move in kitchen). This side dish will save any crappy meal or add additional bacon to any superb meal.
