  1. It's fair to say this place is more for drinking than for eating. I Was excited to try their Philly cheesesteak sandwich & it was terribly disappointing. It was dry & bland.incomparable with any authentic philly Cheese steak I've ever had. I have high expectation for the taste of a Philly cheesesteak. Either you know what your doing and you make a mean one or you don't. The cheese was poor quality and so was the meat. We also had an order of hot wings. They were okay. Nothing great unfortunately. This place gets two stars because of their good service and the variety of beers. They had a black cherry cider which is delicious especially if your into cider beers. They also have specials through out the week day. we caught the drink specials thank Goodness.
The place is cute dark wooden floors like a typical bar. They have many TVs with a couple sport events showing. The bartender and waitress were very nice and attentive. I more so was just disappointed with the food.

  2. Great Philly cheesesteaks. The onion rings are great, nice and crispy. Lots of draft beers to choose from. Def coming back

  3. I was very excited about checking this place out since I've heard great things about their delicious fries, cheesesteak sandwiches, and beer and drink specials…Unfortunately I was turned off by my experience there.
We were meeting friends who'd told us about their beer pitcher specials for $12. Once we sat at the bar we asked our bartender which beers were on special for $12 and she started naming them but seemed to get annoyed so just asked us what we were looking for so we said stella and she said ok.
We ordered fries (thin and crispy) they were perfect. I thought the cheesesteak was good my bf said he's had better. Everything was fine until our bill came and we realized our pitcher was not $12. When we inquired about it explaining the conversation we had with our bartender we were told that the beer we chose was not on special and that our bartender had already left. When you specifically ask questions about specials etc…and are given wrong information your bill should be adjusted. Well ours wasn't, needless to say we won't be back.
Either you're straight forward with your customers or don't expect them to return.

  4. We stumbled upon Shorty's for some happy hour fare. I came here one evening after work with my husband and his coworker (who used to be my coworker). We wanted to go somewhere in the area of my husband's job and the coworker's apartment.

We had a difficult time finding a decent HH in the area and noticed Shorty's whole paying the meter. We were just in time for happy hour and their menu looked amazeballs so we grabbed the first cocktail table and chairs we could find and settled in for some catch up, drinks and South Philly pub fare. Be prepared to see a lot of Philly sports paraphernalia on the walls. I was almost deterred but then I saw the sandwich menu and all was forgiven.

I went with the Steak Special, a steak and broccoli rabe hero with your choice of cheese. I got the Aged Provolone. The sharp flavour was there with that tangy cheese but I think I would have preferred regular provolone so that the sandwich would be more gooey and melty. Hubby went with the classic Cheesesteak with Provolone and our friend got Chicken Tenders. We all shared an order of the Old Bay Fries that were so well-seasoned. The food was awesome. The drinks, however cheap, we're watered-down and far from remotely strong which is saying a lot considering hubby and I ordered our usuals, vodka/seltzer. I mean, there's not much flavour to hide behind when you're beefing up the seltzer.

All in all the food was more than acceptable and we even ordered a to-go Roast Pork Special w/Provolone for my son.
I would definitely come back for takeout maybe, perhaps a beer and a shot of something to wet my whistle but definitely no mixed drinks. You're losing out with those.

  5. When we were checking out what was to be our new apartment, I was super excited to see a place that served Philly cheesesteaks nearby. Understand, there are days when I crave that cheesy goodness. Actually, y'know what, anything with cheese, I'm happy with.

So it was one night in our first week of moving in when we were walking to Duane Reade and the craving suddenly hit. Enter Shorty's.

It's meat and grilled onions slathered with your choice of cheese. I hear that a REAL Philly cheesesteak has cheez whiz, so hey, let's go with that. The end result is a great, satisfying, late night meal. Couple that with the Italian fries — crispy fries with parmesan cheese and other spices — and you'll be sleeping well! As it's just a short walk from home, I will definitely be back here!

  6. Shorty's has been popping up all over the city. The location by my office is pretty solid and a great option for an in-office lunch. I recently visited this location on a bar crawl. The inside was narrow and a bit on the cramped side but they did have an open outdoor patio in the back. The patio is a nice setup with a bunch of tables and chairs, along with 2 flatscreen TVs showing sports.

The staff here is friendly and our waitress was quick to accommodate a rather rowdy group (not a bad rowdy, just loud). It started to get cold out even though the news said it wouldn't be so I started to freeze as the sun went down but oh well, that's what you get for wanting to be outside! I didn't really get a look at the menu but they apparently offer a great beer list along with tasty cocktails. A friend and I split an order of chicken fingers and fries. The fries at any Shorty's are always good so these were still delicious. The chicken fingers were just okay.

Overall, not a bad spot but not my favorite location of this chain.

  7. A bar that specializes in Philly cheesesteaks, you cant go wrong with that. And they do not get it wrong. There are many choices on the menu but i choose to stick to the traditional cheesesteak.

I have attended during happy hour where they have a flat rate of $14. And that includes your sandwich and fries and a drink.

My only questionable thing is the love of cheez wiz. They offer it to you on either your fries or your sandwich. But its just an option so saying no is not an issue.

    Will continue to come back.

  8. Love this local spot!

Went here to watch the Rangers game which was terrible, but the food and booze were terrific.

Happy hour – 4$ drafts, cans and bottles of ALL beer. Yes – ALL. 5$ cocktails. There's wine on tap but there want a deal there.

Food is legit – had the yuengling onion rings, old bay fries and chicken club wrap. The people I was with got the Philly cheesesteaks (what they're known for) – awesome. They do with wiz, or provolone, and have on cheesesteak with broc rob.

Only reason for the 4 stars is that there seemed to be only 2 people working the bar and the floor so the wait was a bit longer than desired. Will definitely be going back!
