Stumbled upon this new cheesesteak joint in HK … but the results were mixed.
The pros: – Reasonable prices for the food. – Very fast delivery. The food also arrived extremely hot. – Small, but decent selection of sides including waffle, cheese fries and a decent potato salad – Free soda with my order of cheesesteak
The cons: – The cheesesteak itself was somewhat bland and the bread was mediocre. The meat was plentiful but the flavor was lacking. Mine was the old Philly standard of meat, whiz and onions. Unfortunately that usual sure bet didn't pay off here.
Even though I pointed out only one con, it is a glaring one since cheesteak is supposed to be the specialty here. I wouldn't say it's the worst I ever had, but this place has a long way to go to surpass Shorty's in Hell's Kitchen/Midtown West when it comes to cheesesteak domination.
I'd say if you want a fairly cheap meal, this place will fit the bill. Just don't expect too much for now and hopefully they will find a way to improve the flavor of their signature dish.
