Finally, a *nice* Brazilian churasscaria that doesn't require stretchy pants! Favela is a great place; nice and intimate, great food, good caiparinhas and wine. Service was wonderful and the live music was a great touch. What more can you ask for?
Who needs the red/green signal. We, as usually, ordered too much food anyway. We had the moqueca (fish stew) which was pretty good, the qeijo a milanesa (aka fried cheese), the bam bam, and the misto 3 with chicken. OMG, everything was so good.
I'll be back.
We came here on a Saturday night and there was an hour wait! The guy told us he'd give us a call, but never did. When we returned, there was about 5 tables that were empty. They could definitely work on the front staff service because that can cost them tons of money in the future.
Otherwise, I loved the live Spanish singer with his guitar. Definitely has an upbeat vibe at this place.
I ordered the pork chops but I didn't like it, too dry. My husbands churasco steak was delicious! It was served with 4 slim pieces and it was juicy and tasty.
We will definitely come back to try some more of the churasco dishes!
This place is very loud so be prepared, and they have live music so make sure you're not really trying to have a conversation with someone. The live music is very good and has you dancing in your seat. The caipirinha drinks are good- but VERY sweet! I like the food they had my favorite the beef carpaccio (it had too much cheese and some type of sauce I couldn't taste the carpaccio itself) overall the food was ok but the dessert was my favorite part- make sure to get the bolo de banana flam ado con sorvete (long name but awesome taste- make sure to let it COOL before eating!) all and all I would give it a 3.5/5.
I went to Favela once and at that time, I was a vegetarian. Let me tell you: not many vegetarian options. I ate sides.
It was my first time with Brazilian brochettes and true, it looked great. The staff was nice but mocked me a bit for not eating meat.
I liked the round tables that accommodate a big party and are perfect for sharing a nice dinner with friends. And the cocktails were good.
Pretty solid food over with fair pricing. Came here with a friend a few days ago and ordered a Calabresa (grilled and sliced sausage with yuca fries on the side) and misto 3 for entree to share. The misto 3 was cooked to two temperatures (half of it was suppose to med rare and the other half was well done). When we requested this, I guess there was a language barrier and some kind of miscommunication because the waiter brought out the sirloin steak med rare and all the other meat were prepared well done (chicken and rib wrapped in bacon). Major buzz kill. Why would they not split all the meat in half? Why only prepare the sirloin in med rare? Ugh. Chicken was overly cooked even for my friend who requested it to be well done. Overall seasoning of the meat was on point so I believe if they would've got the temps right, the dishes would've been great. The misto comes with a side of rice and beans and this beautiful peanut dust that you're suppose mix into the rice and beans; AMAZEBALLS. Dont be scared when you see it, TRY IT.
Finally, this place stands out against the other Brazilian BBQ places because it resembles a restaurant the most and not a buffet. It is dimly lit and has real potential. If you like meat at a cheap price, this is the place to go. I will definitely come back here!
The Xmas party from my job was at Favela's. The food was really tasty and tropical. Loved the pinacolada and all the appetizers that we had. I ate too much that I don't even remember what was my favorite, but definitely yuca frita and the cheese Brazilian squares. For the dessert I had the coconut flan and it was so flavourful.
Happened to be in Astoria on a Saturday night and I've tried a lot of places in the area but never a Brazilian spot and it was perfect because I was with my Brazilian friend so she could tell me if it's authentic or not, well this place passed the test, we had the coxhina (I think) but forgot to take pictures, they are similar to a jalapeño popper but instead it's stuffed with chicken, for a entree I had the beef stroganoff which was in a creamy congac flavored sauce with mushrooms, now I don't even like mushrooms but I ate the entire dish that's just how good it was, it was flavored just perfectly, every Friday and Saturday at 8:30 they have live music so it was nice eating our meal with good music in the background, overall my friend said that this place reminded her of home and I loved eating there, amazing great service, I'll be back for sure
Yum, yum, yum! I liked everything about it – my dish and other people's dishes…
I had the skirt steak, which was a recommendation from the waiter, and it was so flavorful and tasty! Cooked well and just how I wanted it (med. rare). Unfortunately they could not substitute my yuca fries for a salad (trying to be low carb) but then when I had the yuca fries, they were so hard to resist.
Other people got the beef rib and that was out of this world. Really tender, enough fat and flavor! We also got the shrimp for an appetizer and the portions were plentiful.
I did not try the cocktails but my party did and they enjoyed the different flavored mojitos.
