Its been about a month since NOLA, where I had my first shrimp po' boy sandwich,sadly it was a let down,not fresh and resembled something from Popeye's. I guess the po' boy here in Brooklyn's Two Boots is better than the one's I had in New Orleans,and that's realtalk. Real fresh, delishious, juicy shrimp, crisp lettuce,fresh tomatoes, onion, that cajun spice was notable and I was in love. With coleslaw and wavy potato chips. To chug it down I had it with a Coney Island Lager. Real fresh,and cured to my New Orleans melancholy. Thank you Two Boots,brought me to the Big Easy, easily.
Hmm. Fine, not great. Sauce tasted so heavily of tomato paste and dried oregano that it completely lacks freshness. Far too much cornmeal on the crust left everything kind of gritty, and yet the pie was surprisingly flaccid. Issues with delivery (a missing pie, a promised "significant" discount for the resent 2nd pie that turned out to be only $2 for the trouble – seriously?) and issues with packing (one pie apparently was too large for the box so they layered 2 slices on top of the rest of the pie, totally ruining those slices). Alas, a disappointment. I'm afraid this will not be our go-to option in the neighborhood.
I had to get pizza before I left NY. Stumbled upon this place straight off the subway. Walked in and loved the vibe. The people who work there are exceptionally cool. Warm and welcoming. Especially the girl who was there last night.
Anyway ordered 2: a pepperoni slice and another called the grandma. Both were good but the pepperoni hit the spot. It was actually arguably one of the best slices I've ever had. The crust was perfect. Just the perfect amount of crunch still soft and light. Not too heavy or bready. Perfect cheese to sauce ratio. Both were fresh. All in all a great pizza experience.
My boyfriend and I were looking for a quick, low key meal, so we decided to give Two Boots a try. I am super glad I found this place, because the food was amazing. My boyfriend and I shared a pepperoni & bayou slice (bayou slice topped with shrimp, crawfish, & jalapeño) both slices were thin, crispy, and full of flavors. We also shared the spiced catfish sandwich accompanied by potato ships also very very good. (Sandwich had enough veggies and meat) Although service was just ok, I will definitely because the food was ammmazzzzing!!!
This place definitely has its own UNIQUE menu. A combination of pizza & Cajun is without a doubt a plus!

I was very happy to see these guys open up shop in the neighborhood, having visited several of their Manhattan locations. If you've been to any of those (West Village, Noho, Alphabet City, etc.) or elsewhere, this is the same thing. Most of the usual suspects were there: Newman, Bird, Mr. Pink, Bayou Beast, Cleopatra Jones, etc. Absent, however, were Mel Cooley and The Dude. Hopefully this wrong gets righted quickly.
This location, unsurprisingly, is very kid-friendly. They were passing out small balls of pizza dough to all tables with kids so they could play around a bit. I thought that was kind of cool. Otherwise, service was quick, the space is comfortable (formerly Great Lakes and Terroir, respectively) and the prices are consistent with their other locations. I happen to love their unusual and quirky pizza, so I'll definitely be back. I imagine this place is going to do very well, if my experience on a Sunday afternoon was any indication.
Two Boots now serves as the anchor on a very powerful and attractive block of food options in the hood; Two Boots, Blue Ribbon, Calexico, Bonnie's and Naruto Ramen, all in succession. Welcome aboard!
Two Boots serves thin crust pizzas with lots of unusual toppings. That's not really my thing, so it was never at the top of my list. But, it's wacky and colorful, and you get accustomed to it being around. So when the store on Seventh Avenue closed, I was surprised. And when I read that this store opened on Fifth Avenue, I was pleased to see them back.
I'm on the hunt for great gluten free pizzas AND they deliver, so our fate was sealed. I added ricotta because I love cheese and I needed to get my order up 50 cents for delivery. A friendly guy delivered my small gluten free pie. It was cheesy and delicious; they load the cheese to the very edge of the crust. The crust itself was pretty good, especially at the edges where it crisped up a bit. And the sauce is loaded with herbs and very tasty. Definitely at the top of my list for the best cheesy gluten free pizza around. And they also make a faux cheese version for vegans.
The 2nd Street location has been closed for awhile. (and nothing has come to the space which is kind of a bummer) The old Terrior/Great Lakes space is not Two Boots and I think they have been smart in just having pizza. The pizza is a little pricey compared to other places but other places do not have the Tony Clifton. Fun to see another addition to restaurant row between Garfield and First.
A nice, affordable, tasty place to grab a casual slice. They can have a bit of a limited selection at lunch, but their slices are tasty, so I have no complaints. (Grandma Bess and The Bird are my favorites, but they don't always have them ready.) I wish they had a better process for alerting you when your slices are done rather than standing at the counter and hollering what's in your order, but when you can grab a generous two-slice lunch (with free soda) for under $10, what's to complain about?
