Juicy Platters

“They have the wonderful platters: chicken, mixed, gyro, falafel, or veggie, and other dive-y favorites like chicken wings and burgers.”

“I am a frequent visitor to the halal guys carts in NYC and hate that I have to pay a toll so I can get my fix.”

“Sooo not as good as the platters in NY, but not too shabby either!”

  1. Their food is EXCELLENT. Their phone IVR(the automated answering service) SUCKS. I even emailed them about it. I want to place an order over the phone so I can come to pick it up and it's like pulling teeth to get in touch with a manager, the IVR has NO dial option to the front counter in order to place an order. If they don't want customers to place an order over the phone, then maybe the intro should say that, "sorry we do not take orders over the phone." It is SO frustrating and I never got an email reply from the email I sent. This is why Juicy Platters gets two stars.

Fix your IVR system guys. I promise you I will jump with joy and order from you again if I can easily call yall ahead of time instead of it being so damn painful a process.

  2. I've been wanting to come here for a long time.
It was a pretty good experience. I got the mixed combo platter and it was A-OK.. NY halal is still the best i've had, but this will do when i'm having the craving for Halal.
The amazing fountain soda machine with different types of drinks is great.
Definitely douse your food with white sauce- its a must!

  3. Juicy Platters has made some minor changes that have led to major improvements. I've been coming here for my C&R fix for the past few years, and I love that they're using more of a long-grain/basmati style rice instead of the Lipton-packet type rice it was before.

The food tastes so much more fresh and flavorful, and they're standards of hygiene are top notch. The place was sparkling clean. More importantly, the platters are delicious + they give generous portions. I've also had their wings which are some of the biggest and juiciest wings in the area.

I appreciated their customer service, as I requested extra lettuce and they were very accommodating.

Will definitely be returning on a regular basis when I'm in the area!

  4. Good NYC cart-style food and Halal Guys alternative if you don't feel like heading to the city. The Fair Lawn branch is small (10-15 max seating), but has some neat stuff inside–from t-shirts with the JP logo to an Instagram cutout. Ordering is simple–pick your meat/veggies and whether you want a platter, pita, or wrap. You can "add color" (mainly vegetables) or order some sides to complete your order. They also sell hot wings.

Mix Platter over Rice ($7.94): Each platter can be over rice or salad, and comes with sauteed onions, a salad, and a pita. The "mix" is gyro and chicken, which was pretty flavorful (nice crust on the meat, too), while the rice was long grain; everything was served hot when I ordered. Everyone seems to like the white sauce, but I'm not a huge fan of it. It's rich, but I definitely like the hot sauce.

The hot sauce and BBQ sauce are next to the pick-up counter, while the white sauce bottles are in the fridge; you can buy an entire bottle (any) for $7. Overall, I see why a lot of people like this place: It's cheap, it's good, and you can flood the hell out of your platter with as much sauce as you want. Everyone here is also really friendly. I'd come back for another mix platter, or maybe try their falafel and wings.

  5. My mouth is watering just thinking about writing this review. Juicy platters is the closest thing, that I know of, to those long lines we all have waited on in NYC known as The Halal Guys. I've been here a few times now and it has never disappointed. I like the works: mixed meat platter over rice with extra pita , a side of hot sauce ( better known as – burn your butt sauce ) and extra white sauce to slather all over . I'm not sure about other nights but this stop is on a Wednesday night at 10 pm as I'm heading home from work and there is a line inside and almost every table is taken both in and out . I would say that's a good sign no ?!?!?

  6. Juicy Platters is somewhat of an enigma. It's really cheap, really fast, and draws people from all walks of life at all hours. We dined in on a Saturday night and got to people watch for sure.

Basically, the food is like the halal carts in NYC but with more variety. You can get chicken, gyro, combo, falafel or veggie; salad or rice; and then accentuate with a variety of add-ins such as avocado, falafel, kale, etc. Then you can drown it in delicious white sauce and spicy hot sauce.

I opted for the salad/rice with veggies and topped it with kale, avocado, and olives. It was really good and definitely two meals for me. My only gripe was the veggies were cold which cooled down the rice.

Will definitely return for a quick takeout dinner!

  7. This place is a local favorite and is a very solid option for anyone looking for some quick juicy platters.

Prices are reasonable, service is quick, there's a nice little outdoor area to eat or you can eat inside or order to go, you'll be enjoying some juicy platters either way.

  8. Platters failed to impress. My food wasn't hot and the flavors of c&r from the city were not there.
