The glowing reviews got me into the door- food was actually just OK but service is quite charming and they prepare the chicken adobo w/ gluten free soy sauce. Order that w/ some garlic fried rice and you got yourself a good meal. One beef I did have with this dish: soy sauce was not in it enough- a chicken adobo dish should have equal parts vinegar, soy sauce, and oil so that the stew has a nice appetizing brown color. Mine came out pale and looked weird but it was tasty.
I had some kofta patties too but those were forgettable.
Brooklyn Comfort came to our office via Fooda, and they were awesome. I had the baked BBQ chicken with carrot rice and a side of their seasonal beet salad. The chicken was a huge portion of leg and thigh, in a sweet cinnamon seasoning. Super juicy. The carrot rice was a great side, and I liked the beet salad with cilantro. Nice guys too.
I really wanted to like this place. It looked cute in pictures, had some great menu options and great prices, and I could walk to it. I was really, really disappointed. The fried chicken adobo was really good — flavorful, nice portion of chicken. It came with fries. Of course, the waiter first offered if I wanted sweet potato or yucca fries — I did! Then he pointed on the menu (in a different location than the chicken) that sweet potato or yucca fries were extra charges — $2.50 and $3.50. Oh well, okay because I love them. But a bummer. The curry side dish we ordered was good, but with no rice or anything (granted it didn't say it came with any rice or anything, but come on, rice is so cheap). We were the only table. He came back 20 minutes later to check what I ordered as a main dish… I thought it was pretty clear? Also weird, because my partner ordered his and said "I'll have the same". So. Maybe check first, and earlier than 20 minutes after I order and am the only table here? The food took an hour to come out. Way too long. Then, after finishing, we had to wait for a half hour for the bill while the waiter ate his dinner at the bar, ignoring us. Then two different staff members brought us the bill and took plates away. It was a 90-120 minute meal, when we were (again, to reiterate) the only table. Super weird experience, and my partner threw up three times that night from potentially food posioning? Who knows. All in all though, not a good experience, and I won't be coming back. The decor and ambience were awful, also. No character at all, and the customer service was the worst I've had in a long time…
If only they delivered. I pop in often on my way home. Savory, fresh, and it just tastes home made. Service is great, but I prefer to take it out since there's not much decor or ambiance. If you do dine in, you'll be in good company. Can't beat the prices, so stop in and say hi….super friendly to the low budget….

– I did like the garlic rice
– I like the fact that what you're eating tastes like a hearty, yet not too super fattening meal
+
– Fried chicken is just ok. It wasn't done all the way through tho
– Spinach is good too

– These guys are young in the game and its obvious. There was a brief stretch of time when nobody was at the counter to take orders or requests. I seen numerous ppl come in and walk out. I wanted to make an addition to my order, but nobody was there to take it.
–
– They ran out of their famed Turkish lomein which was a major bummer bc it was the only reason I went there
– 'Fast' food, took a half hour to make
TIPS:
– I think this place was made for takeout or quick dining. It's not for chillaxing.
This place is the perfect answer to a neighborhood with a lot of character but not a lot of quality restaurants with options for vegetarian, vegan & gluten free diets. Being a pretty easygoing vegetarian, I rarely have problems with finding something on the menu, but it often seems like either a dish that a restaurant feels obligated to supply – like a phoned in salad – OR it's awesome but it's a vegetarian only restaurant, and I honestly don't feel right taking my omnivore friends. In short, nobody should be limited by their own preference from trying amazing food. THANK YOU, BROOKLYN COMFORT.
I'm not super familiar with Filipino food, but the flavors here are super unique and definitely my style – savory and sweet, and spicy for some dishes. That adobo sauce is rad, as is
For me: Avocado Coconut Cream Pasta, oh my god are you kidding me. That super-creamy sauce will make you swear you're eating some kind of dairy, but nope! Just avocado, coconut, perfectly cooked bulgur noodles and magic. There's a homemade black bean burger that gives Bareburger some serious competition, and Bk Comfort makes a wrap version of it with a totally different palate. And the yucca fries! Oooof!
For my omnivorous friends, the baked bourbon chicken and the fried adobo chicken are on point, although true to og comfort food they use dark meat.
There are a couple dishes not on the regular menu, but they are available for delivery 0- among them being the mushroom stroganoff over rice. I immediately flashed back to my Tennessee youth, with mom making beef stroganoff – this hit the spot. If you dine in and ask nice, they'll make it for you.
I like the beer selection, among them Crabbie's Ginger beer. It's wine and beer only – not a full bar – so it's more for chilling and less for getting rowdy, which I appreciate.
The ambience reminds me of the best case scenario of Mom's Cafe, this student-run spot at my alma mater. Fun, almost kitschy art, twinkly lights everywhere, plain paper menus and mismatched tablemats, nice mixes on the tiny speaker and random movies on a tv by the tiny bar. It's real comfortable.
Maybe my favorite part about this place is it's a bona fide family restaurant. The mom and pop are my age-ish, and their little girl is adorable and comes by to visit sometimes. So I know my money's going towards a neighborhood family.
So I finally decided to check out this new neighborhood spot. They've been here for a little while, taking up the space that had once been… I don't even remember, this place just fits in. Gentrification hasn't hit this part of Brooklyn yet, not sure if I'm grateful or disappointed in a lack of change after living here for so long.
They have a pride flag in the front, which stands out nicely against the all black facade. It's cute and cozy, and has cheap drinks! We ordered a falafel spinach wrap, and two Pacifico Punches. Only problem was, they ran out of a lot of drinks, or maybe never stocked them? The bar dude looked at the menu three times before figuring out which drinks were available. It was right before New Years, so it is understandable. Will have to come again soon, the falafel wrap was really good, came with dill and spicy oil sauces! I never thought of using spicy chili oil to dip falafel in, gives it a good twist! 7/10 on my falafel scale, they weren't really roundly shaped but was still good! I'm craving another right now!
Food is meh. However I like how they offer to make the garlic rice wit brown rice. Super Awesome Staff and cute delivery boy.
